It certainly is.

Flipped through a copy at a bookstore a few days ago.

Can't quite bring myself to get it at the current price, though.

I'd never have bought it, rather would have pined over it and cursed my rotten finances. I love Christmas! :-D

Sweet.

I would never get a comics-related gift from my family unless it was a live-action film.

Same here, especially from my mother, who stopped approving of comics when I was about ten years old. That's what was so surprising about it!

Now, see, those are the people I don't understand. My family has always just.... accepted comics as something I love. My mother even has bought me original art as presents in the past. They basically see it, they've said, like this.... they're sports obsessed, and understand my feelings. We're just different kindsa nerds! :D

My parents bought me my first comics. My dad bought Superman 75 as an investment when it came out, and then that issue where he toasts Cyborg with Kryptonite (83?), thinking it'd be worth money (NOPE). My uncle got me a 20-pack of comics from the Funeral for a Friend/leadup to Knightfall era, and I LOVED them. I started collecting after that, and the rest is a long story of me being interested in some stories/characters and balancing that out with comic speculation (had a nice collection of comics worth over $25, which I thought was a good return on a $2-3 purchase). Sold pretty much all my comics the first time I was to go into the Peace Corps (which is how I think we all met?). The rest is history.

Dude, I was 12, I think. And my first comics were when I was 5. Batman: The Animated Series REALLY was responsible for me liking comics. I can't believe I don't own that show.

My mom doesn't approve of anything that involves spending money.

She's really not too fond of my drug habit :P

You think you feel old? I was in college when Superman died and came back.

My mother is convinced that comics are just for kids and nothing will shake her from this conviction. A few years ago I tried to convince her to read Maus so that she could see that she was wrong, but she flat out refused. I'll never understand it...
