Correction: Watch the mini-series and season 1, then do yourself a favor and never watch the rest of it. It ran itself into the ground.

I'll do my best to get in a real review. I was taken aback a bit by some of Sciver's (sp?) art choices. The art seemed really busy, really dense, with a lot of extreme close-ups. There's, like, no breathing space between panels. I've got to assume this was all intentional.

I'll go back and reread this with a clearer (not shitawkeyd) head.

This issue impressed me. Superman turns evil has been done before and is a bit of a cliche, but this issue just works. Firstly, I am a huge fan of cold-bloodied villains and the Plutonian is just that. He is a stone-cold, vicious killer and I love that. The people in place to stop him seem scared and almost helpless, but at least they have a plan and seeing that plan unfold is going to be interesting to read about.

I both loved and was ticked off by this issue. On the one hand the visuals and most of the story are amazing, on the other hand the continuity stuff is really bothersome. I shouldn't have to read Legion of 3-Worlds to understand the return of Bart. All Flash continuity stuff should have been told in the pages of The Flash. What a waste. But, despite those flaws, I really like Barry, he seems like a totaly hardass when it comes to right and wrong and I love that about him. I am looking forward to what Johns has in store and intrigued by what I have seen so far.
