I totally agree with you chap about the dark past added to Barry. Why? Why did that need to be added? Can't any freaking DC character not have a tragic past? Just one?

It's getting really stupid with all the retcons.

Wonder Woman may be the only not so tragic one left but that's not taking into account how the gods and Heracles screwed over the Amazon.

Have to agree with you on most of Flash. Although I actually liked most of the story, I was not happy with this retcon of Barry's father. It's just not needed at all. However, I do think the artwork alone was worth buying this book. And the cover with Moose's colors is beautiful.

But that's the thing isn't it. If Johns is to make Barry interesting (because he's not) he has to do something to upset Barry's life. Though from the sound of things damnit does Johns really have to play the dad card again? I mean honestly he using it for Hal Jordan and that's so coming into play for the Blackest Night.

God I'm glad I'm not a Flash fan.. well cept for Zoom. :P

I take it Bart was pissy cuz he was Max to come back?

So, who is that dude at the beginning? It can't be a new guy, it has to be someone we have seen before.

The thing is, I like Johns as a writer but I DO think there's enough of a story for Barry at this point. I liked the scene between him and Hal. I could feel the anxiety building that made Barry kind of freaky and desperate to get stuff done before he disappears again. I loved that.

Throw in the fact that Barry's been gone for so long and a great writer could carry that story for a long time.

I was a bit thrown off by Bart's attitude though, but then again, it's Bart so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. :P

No, I am asking the same thing Bart is. I would rather have Max and Savitar come back. And Savitar did come back cuz he is awesome, only to die 3 panels later.

fucking dc.

I think Savitar is about as dead as Bruce Wayne. ;-)

I agree about Flash. I liked it a little bit more than you, but I had all the same issues. I will say that I think the guy at the beginning is your boy, Zoom. And I don't mean Hunter.

War of Kings was really good, but lacking in the huge moment of the first issue. Great stuff, but a little subdued in some ways. Totally agree about the moment with Crystal.

Secret Warriors was good fun and interesting again. Plus, an actual action scene. Poor Yo-Yo.

Trinity was solid again. Loved seeing Enigma's reaction to the CSA.

Teen Titans was a great little, new team issue. However, I am not picking it up again until after the crossover and I didn't get the annual. I do love the new lineup though.

JSA, I don't know what to say. Taken on it's own, it's a solid enough issue. However, they ruined the Marvel family. Like, really really ruined it. I don't know why DC hates the Marvel family so much, but they do. I do think that was Modru at the end, so that should be interesting, and I did like the team building stuff and the stuff with Atom Smasher and Black Adam.

Invincible Iron Man featured too much Pepper (which is a subplot I just don't care for) and a really poorly handled Hill, but it also had an awesome Namor and Tony, so I'm torn.

Overall, a solid week with some big disappointments.

I hated the look of Black Mary and evil Blly in the comic.

What the fuck was they wearing? Billy was wearing a micheal jackson leather jacket with a flock of seagulls haircut, and Mary look like a clownfaced whore. Purple hair? Why didnt she look like she did on the cover?

The art was just bad...

that's my obvious thought as well. and really, the main reason i'm holding out hope for this mini. b/c despite what all the Johns/Zoom fans say, Barry needs Thawne like Hal neds Sinestro. he's his most important, most personal rogue, his opposite number. and doing this mini without focusing, or at least touching, on his importance to Barry's mythos would be pointless.
