Personally I wish they would tell stories from AFTER Empire. Theres a lot more fertile ground there.

That and IMO I find rooting for a group of "heroes" that will inevitably commit mass genocide just a tad creepy. Remember admirable Commander Gree from the episodes "Bombad Jedi" and "Cloak of Darkness"? Three years later Yoda will violently decapitate him when he follows order 66 and tries to shoot the jedi in the back.

And because of that, I must now destroy you.

It's really a downer to know that in probably as little time as a year, Anakin will go from rescuing people to charbroiling younglings on his lightsaber. It's a downer to know that he'll probably kill "Snips". It's a downer to know that, despite all she's done to help them, Aayla's clonetroopers will still mercilessly, and without hesitation shoot her in the back until she's dead. And then continue shooting her.



It's distressing that they want kids to see these fuckers as heroes. I remember playing Battlefronts 2, and it features the 501st throughout the Clone Wars. Towards the end of the game, they transition from Clonetroopers to Stormtroopers, and then, your missions start revolving around murdering populations of planets and abhorrent shit.

I'm sitting there like, "Man, this fucking sucks shit." It's gone from Star Wars to Star War-Crimes. Playing the bad guys has an appeal, I guess. But when the bad guys are being portrayed as heroes, then there's something wrong.

Yeah, I'm thinking of calling Lucas tomorrow. I have a great idea for a cartoon. It revolves around the adventures of the Nazi party. But the stories will all take place from a couple of years before they start killing Jews. So naturally, it'll be cool for kids to watch it and root for them.

I think it's at least possible she'll survive the purge, but there needs to be an act that drives Anakin right over the edge. The straw for the camel's back.

The problem with the show is that Ahsoka is having a very positive effect on Anakin. She's making him more sensitive, more willing to sacrifice of himself for others.

basically, her presence in his life takes him 180 degrees away from the course of a man who can turn to the dark side in five minutes.

But...

if she dies in the war...or appears to die, that will be yet another woman in his life he couldn't save. The horrors of the war don't seem to have had any sort of impact on his state of mind, so it's got to be a personal tragedy. Something that keeps him from being able to let go of personal attachments.

So, Snips has to die so that Anakin can be turned. So that he can be vulnerable to his fears about Padme. She has to die so that his state of mind can be sufficiently weakened.

Or, at least, she has to seem to die.
