What if Wolverine Died?

Postby Alex Delarge » Thu Apr 09, 2009 1:49 pm

Thinking about character death, what if Wolverine seriously died?

How would other characters react? Thinking meta, would the readership care?

Do you think that it would have the same impact that a Batman, Superman, or Captain America would have or would most characters/readers just shrug their shoulders?

He'd just come back cause he's the best at what he does.

Personally, I think from a character standpoint others would think "thank god, he was a bit batshit crazy"

Reaction wise? Yes. I could see some shrugging it off, due to his popularity.

Personally, I would be extremely happy. :-D

I think it would be good for the MU because some other characters could use the page time. 8)

Agreed. I'd be sad to see him go but at least he wouldn't be in every other comic.

Characterwise, I think Kitty, Storm, and Colossus would be hit the hardest.

Kitty's lost in space, but I agree. I'd add Spider-man and Luke Cage to that list although I think the most interesting reaction right now would be from Scott.

I don't think his death would garner any real media attention like Supes or Cap did but would cause more fan uproar (mostly from that group of customers that will buy whatever he appears in even if the books are terrible), which is why I think it's a highly unlikely that we will ever see it happen.

Add Cyclops to that list and I agree.

Jean would have to come back. Himand Storm share some history, which could rub T'Challa the wrong way. Also, what about Jubiliee?

I'm thinking that'd be the most interesting reaction. He might not be emotional, just pissed that he lost one of his field leaders and a valuable mutant and it would be very off putting for everyone.

Now that I think about he's up there. They've been through a lot together as rivals and working together. I don't think anyone has Cyke's back like Wolverine does.

Now I want a Cyclops and Wolverine mini series. :D

I think they fixed it so that he can die in Guggenheim's last Wolverine arc.

Drop him in a volcano and we'll see if he can't die.
