I just started reading Låt Den Rätte Komma In by John Ajvide Lindqvist: it's the original novel that was adapted into Let The Right One In. I believe it's available in an English translation, but I figured I'd read it in the original Swedish as translations tend to lose something in the process.

I haven't seen the movie but I did read the English translated version and I enjoyed it quite a bit....

I just started 'Storm Front' by Jim Butcher, I have read a lot of hubub over The Dresden Files series so I figured I would give the first book a shot.

It's great - but bear in mind that it's the weakest book in the series. They just keep getting better and better!

I am about 75 pages in and have liked it so far... i have been in need of a good series to get into and this is 11 deep so if I like it I will have all kinds of reading for me.

It is certainly more expansive (as books tend to be) and also more of an ensemble story than the movie was. Characters like Johnny Fontane, Lucy Mancini, Rocco Lampone and other characters who had a small or no role in the movie, got a lot more focus in the book, which let us see what kind of influence The Godfather had on different people. It was incredibly fascinating. I can't really say if it was better than the movie, just very different. I think that both works perfectly used their respective mediums as best they could.

Has anyone read the Godfather Returns or the Godfather's Revenge, Mark Winegardner's sequels? My gut tells me that there's no way they'll come close to Puzo's work, but I guess you never really know.

Severance Package by Duane Swierczynski

I didn't love The Blonde so it's probably a good thing that I bought both it and this at the same time. About 50 pages in and this is great so far, a definite leap forward from the couple of other Swierczynski books that I've read. The Dennis Calero illustrations that are sprinkled throughout the book are a nice touch.

On Jude's recommendation I have been reading Dead Witch Walking, the first book in Kim Harrison's Hollows series. I'm really enjoying it too, so I reckon I'm going to get the whole series now. Definitely recommended!
