They say the movie is very accurate to the manga though... I think the manga runs 22 volumes... so the movies cover roughly 7 volumes each?

Oh.. damn.. maybe I don't want to watch the movie just yet then.. shit, I dunno.

But it IS very accurate from what little i've watched (first ten minutes or so)

I finished Pluto vol. 1, and I've gotta say...

I'm liking 20th Century Boys a little more at this point.

Pluto and 20th Century Boys are released on alternating months. Pluto 3 should be out in May, 20th 3 should be out in June.

Battle Royale (Tokyopop)--Postmodern Japan in which evil government sets a class of junior high students (half of whom look like they're 25) on an island, arms them, and tells them they must kill their classmates. There can only be one winner. Extremely brutal/violent but darn good.

Death Note (Viz)--Demon intentionally drops a notebook at the feet of the smartest high school senior in Japan. If you write a person's name in the notebook, that person dies. Starts out as a cat and mouse game with a brilliant detective, but I understand it devolves into something else at some point. I'm only 3 volumes in and it's been great.

Gantz (Dark Horse)--Some people that die find themselves brought back to life by a mysterious orb named "Gantz" that arms them and has them chase and kill aliens in some type of bizarre game. But are they really alive? Very cinematic manga.

Uzumaki (Viz)--Horror story involving spirals. Very creepy. Also good by the same creator--Gyo, which is about killer fish on stilts (no joke).

I highly second this list!

I've read the Battle Royale book and seen the movie, so I'm not as much interested in the manga.. but I'll probably try Death Note out, since that's the only one on there other than MPD Psycho and Battle Royale that I've heard of.
