The X-Men are not having a good year. After suffering the growing wrath of mutant-hating villains and an equally mutant-hating public, they become the target of Osborn and his Avengers in Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men: Utopia.

But according to Matt Fraction, the war doesn't even end there. He says, "This is a direct outgrowth of Utopia. That's the most I can say without tipping too much. The events of Utopia leave Osborn energized and enthusiastic and incredibly proactive." He also says, "It was structured and planned for the one to lead directly into the next."

Unlike the Wolverine issue of The List, where Osborn's battle with Wolverine is a side effect of his larger mission, it appears that he is directly targeting the X-Men in this case. Fraction teases, "The funny thing is, this is Osborn being angry. It's fun to write Osborn angry." Fraction couldn't reveal which specific X-Men play direct roles, or whether the newly-formed Dark X-Men factor into the story. He did say that, "It's a group effort focusing on one new X-Man in particular." The new character, whomever they may be, is an established X-Man who hasn't appeared in Uncanny to date.

At this point, it's fair to ask how the X-Men can possibly defend themselves from Osborn's further wrath. It may not be safe to count them out just yet, though. Fraction says, "Osborn thinks they're at a big moment of weakness, and the X-Men feel they're at a profound moment of strength."

Nate Grey, probably if they ignore that he was an integral part of that Apocalypse: The Twelve storyline. Which they probably will since the editors don't read any back issues of the comics they edit.

I'm thinking its an established X-man, who hasn't appeared in Fraction's run to date, not in Uncanny, cause i think all the "x-men" have been in uncanny in one panel or soemthing in its entire history.

hmm, no doubt someone will find a panel where the character was featured in an issue of Uncanny. I'm guessing they mean this character never served on an Uncanny team?
