This came out at a time when Elseworld Batman stories were all over the place. I liked the one where Kal EL was found by the Waynes, so that Superman became Batman.

GbG was enjoyable. Then again, at the time everything that had Batman in it was good to me.

Actually, when GBG came out, there weren't any elseworlds. GBG was pretty much the first one.

I'm going to look this up. I hope it's not going for a billion dollars.

Retroactively. DC had a long history of printing Imaginary stories long before that. But this was when the Prestige format was still new and a Big Thing. Plus the Batman movies were out around this time, so every other month saw some Batman Prestige format book or other coming out. considering that these cost about $5 then, contained no ads, were bound, on high-quality glossy paper, they were a steal when today's regular comic cost $3.99 at times, and has 1/4 the number of pages.

Here's an update.

I'm in the process of moving and I wasn't able to find all my copies of Gotham by Gaslight. I did find 2, and they were sent out to John Lewis & Lord Simian.

Once I've moved, I will uncover the rest.

Thanks again, Doc!

Oh, and another one I always liked? The one where, instead of Batman, he became a Green Lantern.
