All I want for Christmas probably because it's a Christmas song and stations here put that crap on a loop come the holidays. Don't think that counts though.

Hit Me Baby might but I don't listen to Top 40. Unless you're a woman or a maybe a gay man you shouldn't listen to that shit.

ooohhh. you got me there. Guess we'll have to wait for that Nirvana reunion that we've been waiting for so I can come up with a counterpoint for that!

Oh, but then I can tell you for certain that Nevermind is considered an album that people will openly mock you for haven't ever listening to here in America.

Nobody I mean NOBODY was still wearing those until Cobain was doing it. He probably single handily helped revive that brand.

That's some influence right there.

Technically that's the grunge movement, it didn't really become a hipster thing until the strokes came out with them (they're also to blame for the tight pants)

Nope. I shudder at the day when listening to Britney becomes old-school hip.

What the fuck is up with the goddamn tight pants craze?

If you're a dude, and you're wearing pants that look like they had to be sewn on you, and your junk is all visible and shit?.. you need to be punched in the face for being a douchebag.

Well I always figured the hipsters stole it from the grunge guys. Who admittedly stole it from the punks.

I really don't get the nut hugger jeans eithers.

Because of this thread, I now realize David Beckham is the Yoko Ono of his time. Way to go, asshole.

But that's wasn't my point was it. My point was to this day the Spice Girls still have many fans. Again you're thinking of what your group of friends like, against what others might like. I personally hate Greenday, but they've been massive this decade.

But, to counter argue, I think you'll find more fans of Nirvana than the Spice Girls right now. SG has lost a lot of fans, although the most hardcore ones will seemingly never go away.

Well last year the Spice Girls world tour made more than any other tour that year. I guess they were at those shows.

If they were teens during the original SG phase, these bitches would be, what, knocking on 30...35 right now?

Wait.
What?
No you didn't say your point was that the Spice Girls have many fans. You said "the Spice girls summed up the 90's." Which implies far more then that they have "many" fans.

And I think it's interesting that now you're trying to argue that we should consider what people other then our friends like after you've made such a patently broad statement as "the Spice girls summed up the 90's." which is clearly a very bias statement.

Nope, I'm not a fan of Nirvana, I'm just not denying how huge they were for their previous decade and TODAY. Nevermind is absolutely loved and it's one of those albums that if you're a music listener in America you have to have heard. Spice Girls are loved by THEIR FANS here, and while people here may be able to identify the songs that made them huge in their spurt (embarrassingly myself included) that can be said about a maelstrom of other artists over here. Frickin ricky martin probably had the same amount of fame after that 'livin' da vida loca' song.

Nirvana transcended their field of music in America, they still are INCREDIBLY well known and listened to. And if you want to assume that i'm thinking about this from the perspective of 'my group of friends' then i'll accuse you of doing the same and even worse not taking into account the american perspective and pretending you are.
