Who's idea was it to have a weekly intro in this thread anyway? Go read some Angry Little Robot or something.

Also, I <3 Mice Templar so make an effort to get to your shops and pick up this issue. I just re-read the first volume on Monday. Pure awesomesauce.

story MICHAEL AVON OEMING & BRYAN JL GLASS
art VICTOR SANTOS & MICHAEL AVON OEMING

The second chapter in the saga of the Mice Templar begins here!
The Templar have fallen, leaving the natural world in the grip of tyrants and ever-increasing chaos. The promise of restoration for the Templar and the salvation of all creatures now lies in the paws of the newly-knighted Karic. But as sinister powers seek to thwart him, others are desperate to use his mission for personal agendas. Now Karic is anxious to complete his training so that he might rescue his family from slavery. But his new master is Cassius, a bitter Templar exile who does not believe in Karic's destiny. Their journey takes them to the legendary Haunted Wood, a dead forest inhabited by Diabhlan, ancient evil spirits hungry to feed off of living souls.

If you would like to join the group it's easy. Just post a review and I'll add you to the member's list. As long as you stay active, eventually it will be your turn to make a pick.

With $4 comics becoming the norm, the economy being what it is and the growing popularity of mail order services the Review Group recognizes that it's becoming harder and harder to commit to participating each and every week. As long as you can post one review per calendar month you will stay in the member's list. It doesn't matter if you post your review the week of it's release or if you post it later. Going forward, there is no such thing as a "late" review.

The only request I make with the new format is that if you don't plan on posting a review or if you're going to be posting late is that you drop a note in the thread so that I can keep track of who is active and who isn't. The Spreadshee of Doom is thorough, but it can't read your mind.

Image
Comics are to be scored on a scale from 1-10. 1 being suck, 10 being a damn good comic. Beyond that, there's no right or wrong.

Image
If it's your week, you must announce your selection by 5pm EST the day Diamond releases it's shipping list. If you do not announce your pick at that time, I will add a poll to the thread that will remain open until 12pm EST so that the group can make the selection for that week. To ensure that you know it's your week, I will PM you when Midtown's list goes live on Thursdays.

So this book was awesome, will quote and link when live.

I debated this score for a while, but screw it.
Overall - 10.

I'm hoping my LCS has this, but fearing that it might be on special order basis only.

I've been very impressed by the preview art posted, enough so that I'd like to track down the trade of the first series.

If you like this book, or just good comics in general, you should check out this week's Stuff of Legend

I'll start a thread when my review for it goes live.

Hmm... it's been a while since an issue of this has come out, maybe I should dig up the last arc out of my mess 'o comics. My only complaint with the first arc was it was a bit slow, other than that the world that Oeming and Glass created is fantastic.

There's an oversized hardcover of the first volume that is really fantastic and has tons of extras. It's well worth tracking down, it received multiple nominations/awards for book design.

Read the issue and loved it even though I have a couple of minor squabbles. I'll probably have to do a re-read before I even attempt a review.

There's a full recap of the first volume on the inside cover that was fairly detailed, but I'm glad I went back and re-read Prophecy before this as the issue is dense.

I'm definitely curious to see how everyone who hasn't read the first volume reacts to this issue, I'm afraid it could be a bit overwhelming.

Depends, how many copies does your shop normally stock for Image books?

The shop I went to had about 8-10 shelf copies which is pretty standard for an Image #1 with a name creator.
