Shop didn't have the issue, but they did have the trade of the first series hidden in the back, so I'll write a review of that instead.

I was able to pick this book up for free, (Returned Tales from the Corps #1)and I’ll say I would of paid for it. I really dug what was going on here. The art is very slick and smooth and the writing is really interesting. I never read the first Mice Templar but I felt this issue let me know everything I needed to know to read it. I do plan on track the trade down at some point maybe this weekend. I did think the ending was just kind of there, maybe it was just me, it almost felt a little forced. But I can’t really complain about it. I enjoyed it and will be back for more of it.
9.0/10

I love it when intelligent people read books that are clearly understandable without the previous history.
Good show.
Although had you read the first volume, you would probably like it even better.
The cliffhanger was kind of cool cause it literally came out of no where.
Also, got email from Oeming today, evidently Santos is doing the majority of the art on this so he can concentrate on Powers.

The SoD already does account for instances such as this.

Above and beyond, MrBlack! I'm looking forward to hearing what you thought of it. 8)

No more local LCS for me and this isn't in my BOC, so I won't be reviewing this week.

Well, from everything I've heard about the series, and from what I saw of the preview of Destiny, it looks like something I'll absolutely love, so I figured I would take the plunge on the trade.

Mice Templar V2 Destiny #1

Well, I read it twice and pretty much get the gist of it despite not having read volume 1. It's a solid rodent fantasy, and uses a lot of ideas or tropes familiar to readers of the genre, fantasy that is not rodents, the quest, the bitter old master, the novice, the boon to be granted once, etc.

The art is pretty to look at once I got past the design of the actual mice. The artist(s), probably Victor Santos, does some interesting things with the colors and panel layout, with some nice big splash pages as well, most notably the one with the raptors. I really like the mole goblins who popped up at the end.

For the second volume of a complicated fantasy series, the book is fairly accessible although I'm sure one would be more invested in the characters if one had read volume 1.

Pretty good for owl food.

By the way after chatting with Oeming today, he is the Cover Artist and did pencils for the first eight pages only.

Santos is the inker throughout and penciller for the rest of the book. Including the awesome Owl spread that I talked about. I will be revising my review tonight based on the info I received from him.

Looking at it, that makes sense.

What are the odds you might pick Doom Patrol next week?

don't know, guess I should look at that list, but it will be tomorrow before I finalize... I have the luxury of checking my invoice to make sure I can get the book, if no one else can.
