The idea behind the program is great, and the first actually effective and helpful thing I've seen the government do to try to fix the economy.

The disaster, and why FBH is a fucking asshole, is that they can put hundreds of billions of dollars into useless programs that haven't shown one beneficial result, but this program that was clearly effective, not only helping taxpayers and giving regular citizens a break, but ALSO causing them to actually spend money on products, gets only 1 billion and gets shut down in a week.

This is the sort of shit that should have been done with ALL the stimulus money.

The problem is that this program actually spends the money on things the people want and need, as opposed to lofty democrat pet projects, so he won't.

What they should have done with the entire trillion dollars or whatever they spent on all these bailouts (short of simply NOT spending it) was fucking give it back to people. That would have jumpstarted the economy more than anything else. Just give that money back to taxpayers and let them spend it, even through regulated types of programs like this.

So, we have a program doing exactly as intended. People were actually buying cars. Car dealers were commenting at having empty lots instead of overflowing ones.

So the car manufacturers asked for more money. Congressional Republicans were asking for more money.

But instead of giving money, the shut it down completely?

Only people in Washington could actually come up with logic like this.
