Holy crap, today has started out awesome. Some jerkhole decided he was going to threaten to jump off an overpass so that shut down Lake Hefner Parkway and made me 20 minutes late. Dude didn't even jump. Jerk!

So I read some comics last night, super lame. ZOMG how pitifully did the Millar/Hitch FF end?! Such a disappointment, I was enjoying the run but it all fell apart in those last two issues. Speaking of disappointment, Kathy Immonen's Runaways hasn't been so great. Terry Moore's run may not have been the best thing ever, but at least it was fun! :x

If you would like to join the group it's easy. Just post a review and I'll add you to the member's list. As long as you stay active, eventually it will be your turn to make a pick.

With $4 comics becoming the norm, the economy being what it is and the growing popularity of mail order services the Review Group recognizes that it's becoming harder and harder to commit to participating each and every week. As long as you can post one review per calendar month you will stay in the member's list. It doesn't matter if you post your review the week of it's release or if you post it later. Going forward, there is no such thing as a "late" review.

The only request I make with the new format is that if you don't plan on posting a review or if you're going to be posting late is that you drop a note in the thread so that I can keep track of who is active and who isn't. The Spreadshee of Doom is thorough, but it can't read your mind.

Image
Comics are to be scored on a scale from 1-10. 1 being suck, 10 being a damn good comic. Beyond that, there's no right or wrong.

Image
If it's your week, you must announce your selection by 5pm EST the day Diamond releases it's shipping list. If you do not announce your pick at that time, I will add a poll to the thread that will remain open until 12pm EST so that the group can make the selection for that week. To ensure that you know it's your week, I will PM you when Midtown's list goes live on Thursdays.

You mean the Millar/Ahearn/Hitch/Immonen FF?

One of the worst run endings ever.

I noticed something else about it I forgot to complain about in my FF thread. In the Debs pages at the end, the time and date info for the two locations (Debs apt and the church? Don't have it with me) are identical, but Reed is in both places. Am I right?

No idea. By that point I was just happy it was almost over.

FF is supposed to be full of fail, so it had to have a shitty ending. plus it reminds me of the whole Bruce Jones Hulk thing, wow you guys have made FF sell, do a few more issues. Well we don't really know what to do with them... oh it will work out, don't worry about it.

I liked the ending of Millar's FF, it's not as good as it could have been, but real life (Millar's Crohn's and Hitch's mother) got in the way, and there were some truly cool moments in that issue.

But let's discuss Doom Patrol!

My criticism of the issues doesn't have anything to do with the substitute creators (except for maybe the scripter), the story just wasn't that good relative to what had preceded it. I think Lee's right, they should have stopped after Death of the Invisible Woman. Even without the personal issues, I don't think this would have turned out to be the epic Doom story Millar envisioned it to be.

But let's discuss Doom Patrol!

Knock yourself out.

I bought my copy, but opted to read a bit more on House of Mystery Volume 2.

Do a Brain and Mallah still exist in current DC continuity? Because I wonder if this new book has set the stage for their re-imagining.
