It's not always easy to manage, but anyone just getting a book or two signed shouldn't have to wait behind a bunch of people seeking sketches.

That's the most frustrating thing about cons. Scott McDaniel and Jim Balent ALWAYS have the longest lines because their sketchability is in high demand. And they do high quality work for as little time as they take per sketch.

Thankfully, though, Scott will pause every once in a while to take care of a few autographs. Because the line can get stagnant. And the complaints can get louder than a whisper. As for Jim Balent, his girlfriend Holly G asks who's getting sketches or just autographs. And she will take your stack and have him sign it in between sketches. Very cool of her.

That is good. My brother bought it back when it came out. They're so cheap though. The writing can get pretty awful too.

McFarlane's writing was a little thin in places, but his art made up for it. As a whole, that run rules. Especially when combined with his Amazing stuff.

My brother has the Amazing stuff in trades, the three volumes he did with Dave Michelinie were pretty good. I think Toody tried to get too dark with his storylines and it stopped fitting the title. The "doomdoomdoom" of the first story is irritating. I thought the second story with Wolverine was the most interesting, even if there were parts that became excuses to draw cool pictures of Wolverine.

Did you pick up any of the stuff after? I really liked Erik Larsen's "Spiderman teams up with every hero ever to fight the Sinister Six" story that came a couple issues after.

I used to have that run, too. Those issues were fun.

As for McFarlane's darkness, it really was a little too much for a wisecracker like Spidey. Todd seemed to have some story hangup about child abusers who chop kids into little pieces. That was the most unsettling thing about him.

yeah, Billy Kincaid from Spawn was a pretty weird character. I think that's why Spawn worked for him (and for him only...), because of his style of writing being suited for darkness. I think he would've written a more interesting character had that character been a dark character like Batman or Daredevil.

McFarlane did draw one issue of Daredevil. But if he wrote it, it would have been a good match for him.
