Well that's all Steve Jobs/John Lasseter. Buy aquiring Pixar they became major stockholders in the company.

One More Day essentially ended the Spider-Man created by Stan and Steve, since it erased history and hit the reset button in several ways. Thus Spider-Man becomes Superman.

But htis has been debated ad nauseum.

But those other studio lines were created by Disney to explicitly protect the Disney family friendly brand. Marvel has been acquired by Disney so they can put Marvel characters and rides at their theme parks and not have to pay royalty fees and renegotiate contracts. Not to mention the film studio that's producing blockbuster franchise projects.

Disney's going to see too much $ tied into that to relegate it to a corporate shell.

Interesting comics have to make money, or more won't be produced.

Otherwise, Spidey, Hulk, Captain America, etc. can join Tarzan, Sherlock Holmes, The Phantom, The Shadow and other pulp-era characters in relative obscurity.

I can't see how this is a bad thing.
More exposition for the Marvel properties.

I would like someone else to buy Marvel, but that's a personal thing between Disney and me.

Disney dosn't mind putting their characters into mature situations sometimes. See Kingdom Hearts or the upcoming "Epic Mickey"

According to Chud.com

"Marvel and Pixar? John Lasseter and Marvel honchos recently met and got so excited the suits had to tell them to calm down, the deal wasn't done yet. There is DEFINITELY Marvel/Pixar stuff brewing right now."

Oh merciful lord in heaven let this be a Fantastic Four movie please please please let it be one.

It's not about the wedding per se. Divorce would have been a Marvel type option. or death.

Erasing history, making things imaginary stories, resets, that was a DC thing.

Hence covers where Stan says things like "NOT A HOAX, NOT AN IMAGINARY STORY!!!!!!" SPIDER-MAN UNMASKED BY DOCTOR OCTOPUSS

That's a shot at DC.

While Spider-Man went through periods of being frozen in time, more or less, a sign of Marvel losing the eye of the tiger as it became #1, that was the first time Spidey history got erased, in a crisis like situation, with the expection of JB's abortive Chapter One, a failed attempt at a Man of Steel for Spider-Man.

End of an era.
