I wish the Cavs could get him. I love Rip.

So I guess the Pistons are about to implode? Too bad, I didn't think they did all that badly. Aside from 'Sheed entering the twilight of his career, they've got some miles left on them.

Not enough to get them into another Finals without some changes, I think.

After the deal we made this year, I'm not sure if we have anything Detroit would be interested in.

And quite honestly.. I'd be surprised if the Cavs made any more deals. Not sure how they stand cap-wise, if there's any money coming off the books this off-season, they may go after someone in FA..

But I think they're trying to make sure they can land a major player for LeBron either next year or 2010 in his contract year to entice him to stay in Cleveland.

There really should be some entitity set up in the NBA that goes over trades and makes sure everything is on the up and up..

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... &type=lgns

For the first time, even Heisley (owner) wondered whether his general manager, Chris Wallace, blew it by caving so soon to the Lakers.

“I don’t know if I got the most value,” Heisley confessed. “Maybe our people should’ve shopped (Gasol) more and maybe we would’ve gotten more, done a better deal. Maybe Chris did call every team in the league. I don’t think he did, but maybe he should’ve…”

One source with knowledge of the process said the Bulls had made the most credible offer. For Gasol and Memphis’ Hakim Warrick, the Bulls were willing to part with Andres Nocioni, Tyrus Thomas, Joakim Noah, Thabo Sefolosha, possibly Adrian Griffin and draft picks.

Still, it hasn’t stopped a rampant anger around the league that this wasn’t so much of a trade, as much as it was the word that Bryant himself used: a “donation.” Privately, the Lakers were thrilled that they were able to keep negotiations with the Grizzlies quiet because Los Angeles officials were blown away that they could get Gasol for so little.

This trade baffled me even more than the Kevin Garnett one from last year..

I know they really couldn't get Rip but I can dream.

The only big salary coming off the books this year is Joe Smith who makes about $5 mil. Dwayne Jones is also off the books along with a few smaller salaries. They have about $7 mil to spend.

Honestly, I'd rather they keep Smith. He and Delonte were the two consistently bright spots of that trade, with Wally popping his head in every now and then.

I do too. Smith played well. It wasn't his fault Mike Brown can't come up with a good rotation. And I really think that Delonte can be a good point guard for them.

I hope Detroit's new coach develops guys like Stuckey, Maxiell, and Johnson while slowly phasing out Sheed and Dyss. Love those guys, but they just didn't have the half-step needed.

I like Maxiell, I hope he gets more playing time as he has lots of potential.
