Parliament as well.

I also liked that I could actually speak the language fluently. I've been in Romania since May 16th, and I can't speak more than five or six words.

Did you make it to Szentendre?

I always loved the area around Andrassy Ut., with St. istvan's, the Operahaz, etc. I used to walk down that street every single day on my way to school a couple blocks away from the basilica. And around Christmas time, when they had it all lit up, it was just beautiful.

She said she left New York with $2000 and by spending smart and mostly staying out of Youth Hostels and just couch surfing (which I guess is free, and apparently the people who do this make you food too and such, since you're a guest in their home) it's lasted her this long.

I couldn't believe it.

If I could afford to take six months off work, I would totally do that. I've always wanted to just travel around the world like that. I want to see if I can do that in a year or two. Maybe not for six months, but a month at least.
I should do that.

Yeah, I saw all that. Only thing I'm disappointed that I missed was the city lit up at night. I heard it was beautiful, but because the place we were staying was out in the burbs somewhere (kobanya-kispest) and it stayed light out until like, 10, I didn't really get to see it, since I was there with my mom and aunt, they didn't want to be out that late, and I didn't know my way around the city well enough to go by myself..

You were there for school?

Central European University, on the corner of Nador U. and Zriny u., right near St. Stephen's Basilica. Parliament was maybe a 10-minute walk.

You should have told your mother and aunt that Budapest was the safest city I've ever walked through.

LOL.. but I'm sure it was an experience of a lifetime. Not many people can say they lived a year in such a historic city.

Did you pick up the language?

Definitely go for it before you find yourself settled down. My wife wants to go to Turkey, but I'm not feeling that at all.

Definitely top 3, at the very least. I seriously have a crush on the woman who played Madame de Pompadour.

I lived just off Andrassy for about a month a couple of years ago, and I'm looking for work in Budapest at the moment. It's easily the nicest city I've ever been to and I didn't speak more than four words of the language.
