Wish me luck

Postby Chris » Sun Jun 08, 2008 9:54 am

I'll be leaving for Budapest (again) in about six hours, then taking a flight from Budapest to Frankfurt, Germany.. then I have 40 minutes to try and find my flight to Detroit, which, if my arrival in Europe was any indication, will be a complete BITCH.. the Frankfurt airport isn't very user-friendly. I will then be flying for 11 hours, and will have 4 hours in Detroit until my flight to Cleveland.

Did I mention I hate flying? I mean, not the actual flying itself.. once I'm in the air I'm fine. But the anticipation kills me. Before the plane takes off, I can never get the fact that I'll be 30,000 feet in the air out of my head.

So.. wish me luck.

Good luck!

The take-off always freaks me out too.

Well think about it like this, Chris - if anything bad happens during the flight, you might have a chance to become a real-life "Lost"ie.

No, but seriously, good luck. I couldn't imagine flying for that great amount of time.

The longest flight I ever took was from London to LA - 11 hours I believe. It was loooong...

Try New Zealand to London - it was over 24 hours.

Good luck for your flight. I hate flying too so you have my sympathies. When I was flying from LA back to Auckland I got huge extensional angst over the Pacific thinking about the vast emptiness of it all. Pays not to think sometimes.

Good lord, 24 hours would kill me...

On the way here I watched Jumper and Cloverfield on the flight.. they had that cool On Demand thing, and those were the only remotely interesting movies. Everything else was chick flicks. And after those I just listened to music and tried to sleep (for no longer than an hour at a time, it seemd) It helped take my mind off things.

But.. there better be some different movies available this time, because there is no way I'm resorting to watching chick flicks to pass time, and my laptop doesn't have enough juice to last me the whole flight. :?

That's why I've never been to New Zealand or Australia - I don't think I'd survuve the flight!

I'm fine with flying, been flying since I was 6 months old? The longest flights I've been on were Philadelphia to London in August of 2001 at age 8, and from Los Angeles to Seoul South Korea to Hong Kong, combined 18 hours or so.

The latter was complete hell both ways for me. I don't normally get jetlag but that was intense.

I did NY to Hong Kong...23 hrs of my life I'll never get back each way on a flight that didnt have any of the luxuries that we have today on airlines like personal TV screens.
