The Legion of Super-Heroes Fan Thread

Postby Cat-Scratch » Wed Jun 04, 2008 12:33 pm

I thought it was time to start one here.

I know a certain fella will be posting rants here.
HE BETTER!

I'm mostly a classic version fan, having grownup with that one, but I also liked the Reboot version to some degree as well as the 5 Year Later one too.
The Threeboot started out with some enjoyable artwork (for me at least) but Waid's choice to toss most everything and also give totally different characterizations, just left me largely cold to it. But it's still LoSH.
The recent animated series was enjoyable, trying to capture the spirit of the classic while bringing in some Threeboot-isms plus some new twists like a Mon-El that was a clone of Superman from the LoSH's future.

For me, the classic Legion is the Shooter/Grell stories from the 70's. And later the Giffen/Broderick issues. So I'm really enjoying Shooter's current run. A shame it will end soon.

Longtime Legion fan here - though I'm not really enjoying Shooter's run so much. I have high hopes for the L3W mini, though.

I'm a recent convert. I've read the current series since it started.

The original Legion is still my favourite - and my favourite run is the 5YG Legion (#1-38). I have a feeling they'll be back for good after Final Crisis, though it seems as though a great deal of their later continuity has been thrown out the window, which is sad.

Perez has done plenty of Legion covers in the past. But he's never done interiors for the team. THIS should be the book of the year.

Ah, yes. Giffen Legion. Right up there with Grell and Swan. Legion seems to be the last book Giffen did before his style got all crappy weird.

It was interesting for a while after that period. Then around 86/87 it started looking rather nice again or so I thought and still think. But yup, that clean style is still my fav out of his six or seven of them. :-D

What? No love of Jeff Moy's work? Am I his only LoSH fan? :(

I liked Jeff Moy's work. Even have a couple issues signed by him. But that era was hard to follow because of how the titles crossed over. Like the Superman titles of the time. If you weren't in on the very beginning, you were, at the very least, kinda lost throughout the whole run.

At the time it was either Superman or Legion for me. I picked Superman.
