I wasn't nitpicking, I was assuming, Reborn has taken the place of the ongoing.

The thing is, by nature of the way Marvel is using these events to sell more books almost any Marvel book feels like a tie-in to an event I'm not interested in or feel like I already know the outcome of, much like most DC books feel like tie-ins to Blackest Night.

If most independent books felt like tie-ins to a larger event I'm not a part of, I wouldn't be excited for most of them either.

But as regards me original doubt expressed, it has to do with FVZA not Ares mostly.

I don't think I made it halfway through the Batman issue, never read any Checkmate.

The Batman novella was robbed. Checkmate deserves it.
