Why do I still read Uncanny X-Men?

Postby ReturnoftheMack » Tue Dec 01, 2009 1:15 pm

I finally got around to reading #517. How could a writer that writes one of my favorite books (Invincible Iron Man) write something so fucking bad.

The dialogue was ridiculous. Stupid one liners, bad accents and cliche lines were on almost every panel. Awful book. Probably the second worst Marvel ongoing title after Hulk.

Yeah man, this book is atrocious. I'm a huge Xmen fan, but Fraction is really shitting this out. I honestly liked Milligan's run WAY better.

for some reason, the dialogue always seems worse on the issues Land does.
However, Liefeld is an enigma wrapped in a pouch-filled, muscular, footless conundrum.

I quit when that horrible Shi'ar storyline Brubaker did was in the middle. I haven't missed the book at all, honestly, and Greg Land being involved makes me even more sure of my decision.

That describes every Chris Claremont issue after his original run :-D

I only read it 50% of the time. I drop it every time Greg Land's turn comes around again.

In one of his traced panels, I'm convinced he used a T-Rex (from either Jurassic Park or King Kong) as Predator X.

I feel this is where I should say something, but I'm gonna leave it.

This issue read like the plot of a Saturday morning cartoon.

"Ok. 5 bad guys. Let's split all our characters into small groups so they can al use their powers at least once. Don't forget the one liners!"

Last time i talked shit about this terrible book, Dianafan flipped out and threatened me.

I knew it was bad since issue 500 when Emma chastised Beast for throwing a Hybrid car at a Sentinel. I wanted to reach into the comic and smack her.

The scene with Rogue was pretty kick ass though.

Did you defend yourself with a Green Arrow hardcover?

I hated it because (and Jude would laugh at this) Fraction shoved his liberal agenda down our throats. He made the X-Men so "green" conscious in the first few issues that it got annoying. He also moved them to SF. I was surprised there was no message from Wolverine about recycling on the last page.
