Meh. Alec Baldwin has been in a few pretty good movies. Far more than most actors, anyways.

Irish Catholic upbringing- he has unattainably high expectations that he feels he hasn't met.

"I consider my entire movie career a complete failure," he told Men's Journal. "The goal of movie-making is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that."

i always liked Baldwin (hell, i LOVED him back in the early 90s...his roles/monologues in Malice and Glengarry Glenn Ross are still two of my all-time favorites), so give him credit for his honesty in the above quote:

at least he's not one of those douchebags who claims the goal of movie-making is "the art" or "the craft" some such bullshit. it's about fame, money, prestige and pussy. :-D

aww man, you are so wrong on that. For many it is about the craft! Granted, most of them are on Broadway (where nine times out of ten it is NOT about the pussy), but I would respectfully argue that many actors are in it for more than just the money. Hell, all you have to do now to be famous is pop out 8 to 20 kids and you've got your own show and your set for life.

Everybody look for the interview where Steven Baldwin tries to name the 10 commandments.

It is hilarious, tragic and scary at the same time.

SPOILER ALERT: He does not come anywhere close to naming all ten of them.

I'll post it if I can find it.

Dude, this guy gives this EXACT SAME interview at least once every year. I remember talking about this back on Old Rama when he said it once back then, when 30 Rock first started.

Find it. Meanwhile, here's a clip from the video "Livin' It", a Christian skate-boarding video for heathens he directed:

"I don't have any interest in acting anymore," Baldwin, 51, told "Men's Journal" in an interview for its December issue.

This could have been a PM, IMO.

He was exceptional in The Cooler. Exceptional. He was, in fact, the spark that fired that movie. I think he shouldn't be so hard on himself.

And his cameo Glengarry Glen Ross is still memorable. No small achievement given that that movie stars Pacino, Lemmon, Harris, Arkin, and Spacey.

Baldwin needs to play another villain as he did in the Coller. A James Bond villain perhaps. He is fucking intense enough to pull it off.

Don't forget this is the same man you promised to leave the country if Bush got re-elected. Millions of Americans are still waiting for him to pay up on that one.

That's sad that he looks at his career as a failure. Sure he's not going to be remembered on the same level as Clint Eastwood or Robert DeNiro, but he's made some very enjoyable films.
Some men just want to watch the world burn.
