for those situations, i use the protection of noise gates, double bagging with noise gates at both the beginning and end of my long signal chain.

rigidity doesn't matter. picks are all different, but all picks are rigid enough to play guitar. the magic comes from how you use your fingers.

I used to play the keyboard years ago, was damn good at it too. My adapter then fried and I never bothered getting a new one.
I'm weird musically though, can only read basic notes (a to g plus sharps and flats) but can pretty much play anything once I hear it.

i'm not trying to be all anal about it. i'm just saying if you can't even reliably elicit one octave out of your anus, then it's useless for most musical purposes.
