Finally, Finally, Finally

Postby David Bird » Wed Jun 18, 2008 9:31 am

From today's Bad Signal:

First off: late last night, Wildstorm
informed me that John Cassaday
has commenced drawing
PLANETARY 27. Please don't
respond to this -- I don't need the
listserv breaking. Just know and
be happy. I have no word on
what else is on John's plate right
now, so I don't know how long
it'll take or when it'll see print.
It's not the easiest script in the
world to draw, as I recall.

So he has to draw it, then DC/Wildstorm has to get it out to readers. Hopefully by the end of the year Planetary will finally be done.

I'll no doubt get the final trade, but what I am really waiting for is the Absolutes.

he may finish drawing it by the close of 2008, but it won't be on shelves by then

I don't think it'll take him a particularly long time to finish the book. When he was getting scripts regularly, he was putting the book out regularly. It the long, long wait for this last script, he took on other work and so hasn't been available to do this. Why drawing covers for the Lone Ranger would take precedence over this is beyond me, but between waiting on Ellis and waiting on Whedon, I guess he needed paying work.

I'm going to be cautious and not get my hopes up too much. If they can get it out by June 2009 I'll be happy. If they can get Absolute Vol 2 out by December 2009 I'll be even happier.

Low expectations are the way to go on this one.
