This thread may only be of interest to Timberoo but I'll make it anyways.

This shit is confusing. You'd think these 3d modeling programs would have one guy and one girl base and then you'd twist them as you see fit. But nooooo...there's like 10 different ones:
David, Michael, Michael 3, Victoria, David, Hirsho, Freak, etc, etc.

And different bases have different wardrobes for them and wardrobe work for one but not the other. For example you can download a jacket that is designed to fit the David model and so it won't work on Michael. You can twist it all you want but it just won't fit. And the program doesn't even tell you which model it's for nor does it tell you if you got it wrong. Say you have a pair of boots downloaded and you try and apply them to the Michael model, the progress bar will go across the screen like it's doing something but nothing appears. And at first you're like WTF?? So you try and different models until you find the right one because no where does it label this stuff with names like "David's boots". No it calls it useless names like "Mat-DVS Boots". What the hell does that mean?? It means you better have a good memeory for who these go with. That's what it means.

My last beef: the install process. Okay, so everytime you get a new model package it comes with an installer. That's cool. Except the installer never tells you where it just installed to. So say you download a new belt or something. Now you have to go find it. Maybe it's under the Character section or Pose section. Yup, that's right. Clothing sometimes gets placed under the "pose" category. That makes a hell of a lot of sense.

This shit is rather fun except it takes too damn long to get to the fun part. You spent 90% of them trying to find what you're looking for and then trying to remember if it even works with this model you're using.

I've read the read me files but although some of them will tell you the path location for the file you still have to know how that translates to in the application which can be confusing.

true, the good ones will usually tell you where you can find the item in your runtime, whether it will be listed as a prop or character.

you can go in and manually rename folders so you know what goes with what character, like putting V4 or D3 in front of them.

That's essentially what I did last night. I made all new subfolders based on the figure's name and then filed each of their things like clothes and poses under that. It was the only way for it to make sense.

I'll tell you something else that pisses me off: hair. I have like three different types of hair and none of them include the "fit to" option. It took me close to three hours to learn that you need to readjust the hair's place in the surfaces tab so that the hair tracks with the movements of the rest of the model and then you still have to use X, Y and Z to postion correctly on the head otherwise it floats like 2 feet above them like a flying toupee.

I can't believe they charge people money for these models when they have no standardization at all.

If you have the figure selected before you add the hair, it should parent right to it.

And didn't I read somewhere that there's a "magnetize" feature or something that adjusts clothing to fit to the figure after you've changed morphs?

I think I tried Glyph Hair and Beach Hair and on the David body.

What's the deal with all the different bodies anyways? Is one newer then the other or something? It looks like Michael is more detailed then David so one would think he's the new and improved model. But David seems better for superhero stuff because his muscle morphs are more cut/exaggerated. Michael's are too realistic to be useful for superhero type stuff.

The default for those hair styles is Michael 4. Beach Hair doesn't come with a fit for David. Glyn hair does, though. If you look in the poses folder, there should be a fit pose to have it conform to David.

The different figures have developed over the years. David 3 was probably the best male figure they made up until Michael 4. David is smaller in stature and can be made to look quite a bit younger.

The 3 generation figures are called Unimesh, because their skin templates are all the same. The way they are rigged makes a lot of distortion on the shoulder area, though.

The main male and female figures started with Michael and Victoria. They are on their 4th generation, now.

totally, but most of the male pants look like Ken Doll clothes in the crotch. They sell a special morph set for V4 - Natural Gravity Morphs - that are basically made to make her boobs look real - but the slightest bulge on a male figure is deemed inappropriate.
