Vertigo has managed to get several difficult to market books off the ground with $1 #1s, Marvel has managed to destroy several hard to market books by pricing them at $4 for #1.

The price is not the the main issue concerning SWORD and Doctor Voodoo's cancellations.

but they are an issue. I haven't read Dr. Voodoo so I can't comment on it... SWORD though would sell a lot better if they didn't let you draw it.

The Vertigo $1 number 1's has been a great idea imo, I probably would not have checked any of those books out and most of them are now currently on my pull list... if Marvel did that to their new ongoings I think they might have a better chance of lasting longer since more people would have spent the buck to get it and maybe be hooked into the series.

i agree that correct pricing for new #1's would help the titles more.

I don't really hang out in the review threads, but I was curious about this book and then I saw this comment.

If those books had been released with a $1 first issue, I would have picked them both up and given them a shot.

The $1 issues by Boom and Vertigo have been a major reason for me checking out books that I was on the fence about picking up and the $4 first issues by Marvel and DC have been a big reason for me not checking out other books I was on the fence about.

the 1 dollar or 75% off promotion that i see on heroescorner.com also gets me to try out stuff i never would have at 4 or even at 3 dollars. It's a great idea and has worked very well for Vertigo as far as I can tell.

If Morrison became a writer for the WWE it would probably get me to start watching wrestling again.

His post was WWE related...There is a WWE comic isn't there? That may have worked!
