I don't know about the comics but Archangel was infinitely better than plain ol'Angel in the cartoon so, good idea.

I always liked archangel better than angel anyhow and thought they never should have had him go back to the old angel. It was kind of a cop out change to undo all that was done to him and I hate when they do that in comics. Now, how good the story ends up being is another matter.

Archangel was a great character and they ruined it by making him Angel again.
Boring old angel.

I have a unnatural hate for Legion of superheroes and Warren Worthington. So any form that has Angel alive sucks

i'd disagree with this...i thought Archangel was a terrific idea (a damn sight better than Austen's "hey, let's give Angel blood that heals people/secondary mutation" idea for what to do with Warren), and led to some really good stories. the problem was, it should've been a shorter-term idea. they dragged it on a good 5+ years too long at least.

Great idea!
X-Force will keep me as a reader as a result. All they have to do is add Rachel Grey to the team and I'll be a reader for life!

Good idea.
Archangel was that next step Angel needed to get noticed and to add that extra layer to Warren Worthington. Although the Angel character was interesting nobody seemed to know where to go with it, be it there were enough "rich playboys" in the Marvel and DC U to over shadow the character and never had a distinct voice.

I don't really like Angel that much so this change doesn't really matter to me.
But is it something permanent or just for an arc? I haven't been keeping up with X-Force at all.

I don't like the idea. I like depowered Angel. Liked his appearances in Excalibur and Hulk

See, that's the thing. He was that way for you because the writer's made him that way as that's how they felt about him.
Say, can I have a coin from you?
I want to decide which I prefer as I like both.

Hey, is anyone else sometimes thinking about the other Angel?
Morrison's fly winged gal that got de-powered?
What if she got re-winged but with metal wings or feathered wings?

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I love most of the classic X-Men and fear that this might change Angel too much but at the same time, the guy needs some focus as he hasn't gotten any outside of World War Hulk (which wasn't much) and Austen's run which had good ideas but horrible execution.

She's in New Warriors right now with the power over fire and ice I think.

I wasn't sure of that, I haven't read that title and keep hearing mixed reviews of it.

I'll suspend judgement until I see what the ultimate game plan is.
I didn't mind the initial change back in the 90s. It was the culmination of arguably the best character arc Angel ever had. It got a bit grating in X-Factor after issue after issue of him bemoaning his fate, but it worked better when he rejoined the X-Men.
The loss of his blue skin and wings all seemed very arbitrary. Eric Larson was the only one to do something intertesting with the new/old Warren, and that was in an issue of Wolverine.
So I'll wait to see what the writers do with him before rushing to judgement.
