Avatar has got to be one of the best animated series around.
I ignored it when it first aired because I thought it was for kids. And i could never find the channel it was on or the time. I caught half an episode in Toronto once, but we were about to go out and I wasn't paying attention.
I finally caught some second season episodes back in the States and got hooked. Went out and picked up the entire first season.
What struck me was how intricate and well-informed the martial arts animations were. Just the amount of thought that went behind the design of the different bending styles amazed me.
If you haven't seen it, you might not be an idiot, but you are missing something pretty cool. it's a very smart show that manages to have something for both kids and adults, and it alienates neither.
It's funny and sad and filled with action. The world is beautifully designed and illustrated. I like to complain a lot, but I just don't have anything bad to say about this show.

"You must be proud, bold, pleasant, resolute,
And now and then stab, as occasion serves."
Edward II: Act 2 Scene 1, by Christopher Marlowe
