Is your whole family pretty supportive? Obviously, a lot of gay ppl gravitate towards this area because their family isn't accepting of them being gay.

actually, yes. All joking aside, my dad (raised southern Baptist) has come to love David (my husband) and accepted us. As he's gotten older, it's gotten even better.
The only time there was any friction was when I told him he was going to be a Grandfather. That took a little getting used to, but he worships those kids now, so all is cool.
My Aunt and Grandmother on my mom's side were the one's who really helped him through it. They were
very supportive from the very beginning.

That's awesome. I have a Spanish friend who still has not told his family he's gay, even though he now has a live in boyfriend. He actually made the boyfriend stay somewhere else while family came to visit. I keep imploring him to come out, but he's afraid because his family is from a strict Catholic background in Zaragoza. He's mostly worried about his dad's reaction.

That's cool. It's not often you really hear about support from the family. I mean, I'm sure there's lots of instances of it, it's just not heard that much.

yeah, David and I are both very lucky. David's family is even cooler. They laugh and joke and harass the hell out of me. They're a little more down to Earth. My Dad is cool and all, but my step-mother and her family like to pretend their more than they really are, and a gay step-child is not in their top ten things to mention.
Though, she is also wonderful to my kids as well. But I normally hang out with David's family for holiday's and such.

My cousin came out a couple of years ago, my mom and dad, my brother and I have been very supportive since the word go. Her mom and dad took a minute. Her mom's parents have taken it kind of hard and no one will tell my grandparents because, well they still hate black people, no telling what they think of gay people.
P.S. I need to know two things.
1. How the hell is this thread still going on?
2. How did it get serious?

NEVER underestimate the ability of threads at the Outhouse to go in weird directions.

I would have thought Rama would have been training for them. Some people just won't learn.

Pfft. On their best day, the Rama never veered as randomly as we do.
By the way, this thread is now about Beef Jerky.
