All too often, as in that first couple of years, she is an example of all that is wrong with DC Comics. Here is no different. The comic is filled with b and d level characters. Last I saw Gangbuster he was stinking it up in the woeful Trinity, a comic that showed its characters' importance by being incomprehensible for 51 issues and then having every superhero ever talk about how great they are in the final issue. Replace superheroes with common people and this is aptly shown in the highlight of this issue, the Helen Slater penned recap of the past couple years of the book.

I missed where you mentioned Black, but you're calling "the Helen Slater penned recap" the "highlight of this issue". That's pretty complimentary.

Look, she's a sturdy old dame and Chiang's artwork was top-notch, but the 6 pages could have been written off of Wikipedia essentially.

that's what Black did, he printed up the wiki and slater wrote it... that's my position and I'm sticking to it and you have to admit it was a billion times better than the 28 pages before it.

yeah it was... dude the 28 pages before it was horrible, cliche and full of crap no one should care about.. . it had the logic of Barry trying to get Jude to pump his gas for him and smelled like your ass. oh wait that was the avatar book... oh wait that was this weeks book. I'm going home dammit.

You're rambling now, this was an enjoyable issue which showed how far the book has come since Gates took over. Maybe it was a little cliched, but it's a Superman family book, they are all about cliches, and playing with them, this one subverts the Clark/Lana cliche in some ways.

And what's wrong with Gangbuster? He's fine!

Gangbuster returns in issue #1 of the weekly mini-series known as Trinity. In issue #5 he debuts an updated version of his body armor, and appears to be wearing a portable arsenal of non-lethal weaponry, and to have been forced out of retirement by witnessing the kidnapping of the mystic Tarot, whom he had tasked himself with protecting.[4]

Yeah, he's lame.

In a milestone issue give me someone interesting. To make Gangbuster interesting you've got to spend some time with him man-on-the-street style. As a recurring supporting cast member who you get to know and who Kara could learn from maybe. Not thrown in a story like that.

Plus he's lame.

Either way, his role was minimal, and he's one of the few Metropolis based heroes (It's basically him, Supergirl, Steel, Guardian and Mon-El), so him appearing makes sense more than anyone else. The guest-appearance being him and not say, Batman or another more popular character is not a reason to hate the book.

That was Lee's reason anyway, but he went home to dream of Adventures in Babysitting-era Helen Slater.

You are much more aware of the Superman books currently than I am, I haven't read them since the surprisingly good Geoff Johns issues.

Why in the hell would you dream of her from Adventures in Babysitting when there is the babe known as Elizabeth Shue in that movie? :?

It was lame and gangbuster is lame and it made it any lamer and this book could have been written by the tool who was writing it before gates took over.

Not enough of Dr. Light's personality shone through in this. I realize that Supergirl's the main character, but having her direct everything Kimiyo does?? Nah. Still, it's far better usage of the character than Robinson could muster in JLoA and CfJ -- and, for that matter, better than the other writers who have used her in recent years -- so decent marks for that.
