Oh, the new Vampire Weekend album, Contra, is pretty fucking gangsta.

I think Danger Mouse is a genius, but Broken Bells was just ok to me.

Can't stand the new Vampire Weekend album. The first one is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.

I pre-ordered Freeway's album, but in my retardedness, I ordered the vinyl instead of the cd, which does me no good since I don't have a record player. :x

Been listening to Beck and The Strokes a lot recently

Broken Bells felt like they were trying not to be inventive and different. Danger Mouse's other stuff's great but Broken Bells was bland.

I've got 2 cds recently, an Uncle Tupelo best-of, and Odd Blood by Yeasayer.

On Spotify I've been playing White Rabbits, Lady Gaga, the International Submarine Band, Girls and Jimi Hendrix's new song.

I haven't gotten to give it a proper listen yet due to not having a moment of time not surrounded by screaming children, but I will as soon as possible. I do already like Them Crooked Vultures, which I noticed was on there.

I like Wilco but they're very hit or miss with me

I really like the country feel without the twangy country vocals. When I hear country music with the twangy vocals, I can't handle it.

like usually I'm always trying to find new music so this is a good thread to bring back
a few things that have made it to the old ipod lately
revocation-super technical guitar work, mixed with machine gun drumming and very Faith no more inspired basslines.the only thing that REv has going against them is the hype machine that many of the heavy metal journalists have started, while I think it's a little much to say that Revocation is the next big heavy metal act I think it's very clear that they're young and have a lot of talent

genghis tron while not the first band to mix keyboards, drum machine and 8 bit sounds with heavy guitars and hardcore screaming Poughkeepsie, New York's Genghis Tron may be the best.their 2008 relapse records debut,Board Up The House a strange tribute almost a concept album to zombies is with out a doubt their finest work. It's an a record with bi-polar disorder one minute you have a electronic ambient moment the next furiously feverish guitar sounds of grindcore

I felt that way at first, but after a few listens, and buying the album and listening to it, I really dig it a lot more. At first it felt like it was more commercial-friendly synth-pop but I think it's a lot deeper than that. The lyrics are sharper, the music is more precise and the content is a lot different. It doesn't feel so much like university-pop.

As for Freeway, go get a turntable because the vinyl of that album is awesome ;)

I'm listening to Porcupine Tree's "The Incident" - it's really progressive and broody but awesome. Time Flies is my favorite song.

I"m going to see them at Radio City in September. :D
