Just beat Whitney in SoulSilver, current team is Bayleef, Pidgeotto, Gastly, Nidorino, Ponyta, and a Pichu egg. Hoping to get a water pokemon soon to round out my team, but a lot of the pokemon suck at the beginning of Silver

For a water pokemon I recommend Slowpoke he may not look like much at the begining but later on when he evolve he is a fairly strong dude with good defenses, can learn strong physica attacks via TM'sl and physic abilities .Or you could also get a Wooper which is dual type water/ground which makes him inmune to electric attacks which will be useful later on in the game.

You could just wait until you get the Gyrados later in the game, it's a damn house.

You can get a Poliwag fairly early as well. I've had one from like Level 10 and he's awesome now.

What are some pokemon you guys recommend getting at the beginning of SoulSilver? Granted, I haven't beaten the first gym yet, but what are some pokemon I should catch, and possibly where are they located?

My team currently consists of Cyndaquil, Pidgey, and Bellsprout

Either Wooper at Route 32 or Slowpoke at the slowpoke well for your water type and aGeodude at Union Cave at least to fight Falkner's team of bird pokemons and after the first gym you could also get a Mareep since you will need a strong electric type poke later on.

I completely forgot about Wooper. I love Water\Ground types because there's hardly ever a Grass type around to mess them up.

Pokemon Gen-5 info coming any day now
April 4, 2010 by RawmeatCowboy

We inch closer and closer to a major reveal for Pokemon Generation 5. We are going to have two different ways to get our information, and they're coming up soon. As we said before, the April 15th issue of CoroCoro is going to have somewhat of a blowout on the game. The more interesting news is that Pokemon Sunday is going to feature a reveal as well, and that show will hit the Sunday before CoroCoro makes it to stands. Now it's a race to see what info gets leaked first!

FYI Corocoro is a magazine, Pokemon Sunday is a TV show.

I did some major breeding Platinum so I've got plenty (with egg moves and good natures)at level 1 but also some everywhere from lvl 1 to 70.

When would you be on?

Woah you're awesome. I'll be able to get on anytime tonight I guess just message me or reply to this thread when you can do it.
If its not too much to ask I would love one at level 30 or 40ish.

10:40 est - Let me finish something up (and then I have to downgrade my security so that the DS can talk to my router - as well as find my Platinum).
Anything else you're looking for?
