Peter Sollett, the man behind Nick And Norah's Infinite Playlist could be bringing BKV and Alphona's teen hero classic to the big screen.

So far, Marvel's movie output has been all about the classics, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, all classic Silver Age characters with big-name recognition. But it looks like things could be getting a little bit more esoteric and Marvel Films, as the Runaways movie looks to have a director.

Peter Sollett, is the man behind Michael Cera quirk-fest Nick And Norah's Infinite Playlist (it's actually pretty good) and according to Deadline Hollywood , he is bringing Runaways to the big screen.

Runaways is one of the true Marvel success stories of the 21st century, an all-new concept set in the Marvel Universe, it was about a group of teens who discovered their parents were supervillains, and well, they ran away. Brian K Vaughan and Adrian Alphona's run is awesome, and while the quality suffered once they left, the concept and characters have remained popular, so I can't wait for a possible movie. It pretty much stands alone in the Marvel Universe, and could have a lot of crossover appeal. Sollett has proved he is capable of handling teenage drama with his previous film, so things are looking good. And with BKV apparently writing the screenplay, I predict big things. Let's just hope they don't have to change the name because of that Dakota Fanning movie.

Slashfilm is reporting that "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" director Peter Sollett is in negotiations with Marvel to direct a big-screen adaption of the Runaways. Not to be confused with the biopic of the band with the same name, Runaways follows a group of teens who run away from home after finding out that their parents are super villians.

Joss Whedon is also rumored to be involved with the project. Whedon has a history with the characters, being one of their most outspoken fans. He has also written an arc of the series that was mired in delays. Marvel is reported to be looking for a "Breakfast Club" style tone with the project, something that seems to be missing in Hollywood these days in this writer's opinion.

If she's still young enough when/if this ever comes out, the girl who played Hit Girl would be great for Molly.

Also, its too bad all of the guys are either minorites or a jock. Which is not me. Not that I'd expect to ever get a role like this. or the opportunity to ever audition.
