Arsenal got shown up last night.

They just don't have the strength or depth in their squad to compete at this level.

If Fabregas and Arshavin and Gallas had been fit and playing, then they could have put up a fight, but when you're depending on Bendtner as your sole striker in a Champions League quarter final, that means you're fucked.

Don't forget Van Persie.

Bendtner isn't terrible by any stretch of the imagination. Not suited to lone striker role though. Arsene' really needs to start spending, else Arsenal are going to go another season trophyless.

Only hope and the will of god could stop Messi, yesterday.

That or better (as in all time great) defenders, goal keeper and a defensive midfielder to cover the defence. Even then hope and the will of god might have saved them.

Barcelona were the better team, I've had nearly 10 years of Arsenal being the better team with a near unstoppable player, hell, Cole, Pires and Henry were unplayable all of the time.

No shame in losing this one.

The one positive is that Wenger may have learned that Sagna can play in centre defence and he has learned the value of Walcott and Song.

We do need a (young) extra central defender and at least two strikers (I'd buy three personally).

Bendtner, needs to be sold. He just isn't good enough. Eduardo isn't the same player since his leg was snapped off. They should be sold to free up wages so we can buy some young hungry players and we need another striker anyway. (so three)

Oh, i'm not really, I'm a big Van Persie fan. But he's been injured so long. I was only counting players who potentially could have played last night.

And no, Jubilee, Bendtner isn't a terrible player, but I honestly don't think he's good enough for Arsenal, and he's certainly not good enough to play the lone strker role on a stage as big as the one he was playing on last night.

You definitely don't need more young and hungry players. You have enough of them.

You buy an experienced forward, and you're getting there to being a quality team. Will Wenger splash the cash though? I don't know. Chamakh will probably go to you, and he's good, but not great. Gourcuff makes that Bordeaux team work.

Walcott will probably never be good enough to make your wings his own, he's a lot like SWP. I'd get in a winger.

And Silvestre shoudn't be playing in a game like this, he's a liability now thanks to his age.

As a third choice striker to bring off the bench he'd be fine. Perfect even, he's different to what Arsenal have got, will score a few goals and young and going to improve. Not everyone needs to be silky smooth on the ball.

Van Persie if he could stay fit could be incredible :(

There was a point last night, just around the first goal, when Walcott got cut down pretty cynically around the halfway line, and I thought 'Walcott's gonna be trouble for them tonight, he looks confident'.

But once Messi scored, he disappeared. He's still young though, and he's definitely got talent, I'd say give him another couple of years before writing him off.

You say that but assuming we play four three three (so three forwards or one forward and two wingers) then you have Arshavin (28/29yrs old), Van Persie (27/28yrs old). Bendtner is 22/23, Rosicky is 29 and Walcott is 21 this isn't considering Nasri who s about 23/24yrs old.

All of those players have got a lot of experience behind them so I'm personally for a 18yr old striker who has a ton of hunger and a 21 - 24yr old who is ready for the big stage.

Balotelli, Menez and Chamakh or Gignac I'd say.

Walcott will probably never be good enough to make your wings his own, he's a lot like SWP. I'd get in a winger.

Walcott is the best right winger in the Premier League. End. Of. Discussion.

I agree, I would have gone with Cambell even though he lacks pace. Fact is we need a young central defender, I'd buy Micah Richards.

Depends how much longer he's got. He's 21 now, been injured a bit, but he hasn't set the world alight as many thought he would, he's been very average for a top four side, and hasn't performed much better than Bendtner, whom you want to ship out who will be a similar age. I'd say a club like Villa is his level rather than top four.

Walcott is no way better than:

Malouda
Valencia
Lennon.

No where near. He isn't even first team right winger.

You'll probably get Chamakh, although he isn't great by any stretch of the imagination. Belliotelli is clearly the best of those players, and would become incredible under Wenger, but he'd probably cost a lot. Gignac is great as well.

And Micah Richards is a liability. Poor defender at the moment.

I still can't believe you rate Walcott as the best right winger in the premier league.

Assuming you're talking about Walcott, the man has scored for England and Arsenal and this season has only recently completed a full 90mins due to injury and he has still been amazing.

Also I'm not expecting him to be an all time great, the best in the World or the best in Europe. He is currently a very good Premier League player who is looking World class at 21.

What more do you want from him, not everyone has to be Messi, Ronaldo or Rooney. Hell Zidane, Beckham, Scholes, Lampard and Gerrard didn't start getting good until 24yrs old (people forget that as we've recently seen a lot of really good/promising teenagers). I would argue was at the above (with the exception of Zidane) level when they were 21.
