I don't really see the issue aside from some people who dislike Whedon.

I just don't want goddamn space bullets in my goddamn Avengers movie.

Everyone one of his work has a strong female character, and they generally die at the end. Heck even Buffy died on one of his finales.

My brother, his wife and my cousin were the same way. They saw the movie and bought the series.

Serenity was a good movie and it had some really cool action.

Plus, if all the years of directing Buffy and Angel hasn't prepared Whedon to use a Captain America and Hawkeye character, I don't know what will.

You guys must love lens flare.

I do hate lens flares, but I was just using a random director I could think of who actually knows how to make money on movies. Whedon is the king of cult hits, but if you want a blockbuster get someone who actually understands how to direct a compelling action scene.

It had the opposite effect, it took me five years to watch the series after that movie.

Buffy didn't die, in her series finale.

No females died in Angel finale did they? Illyria was still alive and well.

No-one died at the end of AXM.

If your point is Whedon occasionally kills characters who are female at the end of an arc, then yes, you are right. He is guilty of that.

it gets old. I remember back when he was doing Astonishing X-men when several people said "Kitty is gonna die" I did not believe it but it ended up being true for the most part.

But the guy who directed "Elf" made one of the best superhero movies ever. Favreau was a way bigger gamble. At least Whedon knows and loves the marvel characters.

Kitty was left for dead, it is stupid that she would somehow survive for months without food or water.

Buffy did die in one of the original finales if IIRC I could be wrong though.

Dollhouse killed one of it's strong females leads as well, it was pointless.

Well Kitty didn't die.

One of those wasn't a girl.

And plenty of other people died in the Buffy/Angel finale (Spike for one died in Buffy and had way more impact than Anya.

So really, there's two examples of him killing off females at the end of an arc. It's not really a trend at all.

That's stuff he wrote. I highly doubt theyll hand Whedon the Avengers script, and he'll go " Nope! no way, Wasp has to die!"

Loved Elf, did not mean Favreau would be a good action director, but at least it showed that he could inject charm into his work which something Ironman had in spades.

Kitty being alive was not his choice. No one really believes he meant for her to survive but since he doesn't own the property Marvel surely forced him to make the death ambiguous.

For all intents and purposes he did kill Kitty.
