We reported last month that one of NBC's biggest comedy hits will be back for another season, although it seems that season might be the last for the show's star. Office Tally came across a BBC Radio interview with The Office star Steve Carell, who revealed that next year's seventh season will be his last.
Question: How long will you stay with The Office for? How many more series? How long does your contract run?
Steve: Contract runs through next season.
Question: And will you stay after that?
Steve: I don't think so. I think that will probably be my last year.

I don't blame him.
He's got a pretty good movie career going. 7 years is a long time to be doing the same thing for an actor.

Can The Office survive without Michael Scott?

I think that next season will probably be the last for this show anyway. I think they know better than to try and stretch it any further.

The show hasn't been good in a long time, IMO

I disagree. I still think it's really good.
The witness said Mr Brown then called out to Ms Hay's adult daughter: "Look at this, I'm tittie-f***ing your mother!".

He'll be back if his cheque has enough zeroes.

He's going to have more than his share of movie roles offered to him. I think it's a bit surprising how long he's stayed on for the Office as it is.
If they continue the office without him, others will definitely have to step up. And they'll probably need some new hires.

I see him coming back if NBC offers him enough money.
Next season would be the perfect wrapping up point. The Office has definitely been going downhill since S3 but I've still been enjoying it.

The show is good, but I'm surprised he's stayed this long. 7 years would be a lot for a guy that's doing as well in the movies as he is.

It's been losing steam but it;'s still good TV. I think this is probably a good idea for him, and hopefully he'll try some more differenter film roles as he goes forward.

I agree, the show is still very funny at times. Last weeks episode was hilarious.
That said this show would probably not survive one season without Carrell, I hope if he decides to leave they choose to end the show and give it a proper finale with the whole cast.

I just got into the show a few months ago. I like the current run of episodes, but Michael Scott is the show. When he's gone they'd be crazy not to end it.
