I don't know if I agree with that. Yeah, it being the last all star game in Yankee Stadium is significant, but not enough to alter the rosters for. I have lots of issues with the All-Star game to begin with, but to rig the rosters based on location makes it even less legitimate then it all ready is.

Yeah, I agree, although I think that they should be given some leeway if the decision is a close one. However, I dont think Mussina is close at all

Or maybe the Final Vote choices all have to be from the home city's team(s) (in cases like LA, Chicago, NY, etc)

That way, one other player could get the opportunity to join the squad

Giambi? NO WAY.

Gotta be Roberts or Longoria. Dye also makes a case.

Good lord, I CANNOT stand local sports radio.

The guy on right now is ranting about the C.C. trade, and how we shouldn't send him of to Milwauke for "one prospect".. nevermind that everything I've read and heard says 3 prospects, with LaPorta being the centerpiece.

But what's the alternative?

Everybody is dropping out of the C.C. race. The Brewers are the only ones who seem to still be interested and they're offering their top prospect..

What.. should we keep C.C., maybe win a few games we probably shouldn't.. STILL don't make the playoffs.. STILL can't re-sign him.. and get two draft picks next year, which probably won't be better than what we can get in this deal, because the Tribe doesn't draft well.

4:15PM EST: Anthony Castrovince from MLB.com takes Rosenthal's rumor one step further, citing a "Major League source," that says a trade with the Brewers and Indians for C.C. Sabathia has been "completed." If correct, the trade is indeed centered around Double-A outfielder Matt LaPorta, though the other two prospects are not yet named.

Further updates as soon as they are available.

Rosenthal says that the Rays and Phillies are still in the race, but are also likely unable to top the Brewers' offer, centered around Class AA outfielder Matt LaPorta. Rosenthal points out the Indians' strong need for power in the future and LaPorta's 20 HR and 66 RBI in AA Huntsville. According to Rosenthal, Cleveland will also receive two more prospects from Milwaukee in the current offer. Taylor Green and Lorenzo Cain were mentioned previously on MLBTR.

Besides, Tampa proper is 45 minutes away - most Rays fans apparently come from St. Pete, Clearwater and Sarasota (which is 20 minutes south).

Yeah, but how are the Rays drawing when, say the Yankees or Red Sox are in town? I could be wrong, but I see a ton of empty seats even then.

But I'm glad there are some fans getting behind this team. They DESERVE it.

The deal is made.

The Milwaukee Brewers just made themselves legitimate contenders in the National League Central.

According to published reports, the Cleveland Indians on Sunday traded reigning American League Cy Young Award winner C.C. Sabathia to the Brewers for a package that includes top prospect Matt LaPorta.

Sabathia could be on the mound for Milwaukee as soon as Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported. The deal is contingent upon paperwork being finalized and medical reports being exchanged.

The left-handed Sabathia will become a free agent at the end of the season and already had turned down a lucrative contract extension to stay in Cleveland. it is believed he will test the market at the end of the season, meaning he may just be a three-month rental for the Brewers.

Sabathia is 6-8 with a 3.83 ERA this season, but is 6-5 with a 2.16 mark since April 22. As the AL’s top pitcher in 2007, the hefty went 19-7 with a 3.21 ERA while pitching a league-high 241 innings.

Fifteen days from his 28th birthday, Sabathia will team with current ace Ben Sheets to give the Brewers perhaps the best 1-2 punch of any team in the National League, rivaling Arizona’s duo of Brandon Webb and Dan Haren.

Sabathia could be the last piece to the puzzle for Milwaukee (49-39), which has won five of its last six games and leads the wild card race while sitting 3.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs (53-36) in the Central.

People in Cleveland are not happy.

I couldn't care less. At least we got something for him.

It's amazing how many bad hits Pedroia comes up with.

In this series alone he has so many bloopers or grounders that barely find a hole. He gets hits when jammed. It's amazing. He is on fire right now.

Since it's the last All Star game in Yankee Stadium the NL roster should be the Mets and the AL roster should be the Yankees.

Another thing about Pedroia. He seems to be the anti-Cano this year. They both make contact, don't walk a lot, play second base, yet Pedroia has a better BA.
