Punk was just overshadowed in general. Ever since he won the title they've underutilized him.

First JBL punks him, then Cena and Cryme Tyme steal his thunder and he gets a cheap win via distraction. Then his promo gets overshadowed by the Fatal 4-Way, then he get put in a nothing match against Snitsky with no build-up or real benefit to him (they could have probably built him up better by bringing up his victories over Mark Henry and Viscera in a promo IMO) and then he doesnt even show up at the end of the Fatal 4-Way to promote his match against Batista

I saw the point in the Snitsky thing as showing him able to hoist a huge mammajamma up for the GTS, which was a clear telegraph that Batista was winning the 4-Way (as Kane was far, far, far too unlikely). While they could've referenced his feuds with Viscera and matches against Henry, there's a storytelling rule about showing rather than telling. Not that I'm disagreeing totally with you about the way they've so far mishandled his run.

I just can't see the reasoning in having Batista go over Punk at the Bash. He could've accomplished the same shit at NOC. Unless we gave the E far too much credit last week for planning to go young when they were really just pulling shit out of their asses.

Yeah, but you can show with replays and whatnot. Plus, there's the added bonus of not having to waste 15 minutes of airtime on a Snitsky match

Me neither.

Re: Snitsky

It could've gone either way, but I think they'd want a regular match, since without it they'd only have four on the card, and all the monster types were in the main event. Also, the freshness of the move (however weakly ol' Gene-o Machine-o took it) helps, rather than showing a few month old video. Represents where Punk is now.

Plus, it was a clinic on how to work a match. I mean, the bearhug one minute into the action was a priceless decision. It's a testament to Punk that the match was even watchable.

I dont disagree with that, but I'd rather have him in a match with Kane and make the main event a Triple Threat

Someone had to eat that pin...

I realize I sound like an apologist, but in truth, I think there were better ways to get to Batista/Punk.

And that's what JBL is good for. It's a Triple Threat. It's relatively easy to let someone take the fall without making them look bad

Sucks the wind out of his heat as top heel. I'd rather have seen Cena eat the pin and set up a slow-burn for Cena/Dave at WM25, though.

One thing: is anyone telling Punk to talk INTO THE MICROPHONE?? About 25% of what he says, he says with the mic at his hip.

Hell he has never even gotten a chance to really say anything yet, has he?

I don't think they could have done that because they wanted the #1 contender match as the main event, but they wanted the show to end with Kane losing his mind. So if he had lost earlier in the show it wouldn't have worked out as well. Plus having Punk beat Snitsky was really all about just showing he can handle guys of Dave's size. That's two weeks in a row where he's picked up a big dude for the GTS. This way a Punk vs Kane feud is still possible for down the road and all you have is Punk beating a scrub. It's a lot like why they have big dudes beat little guys, like when Mark Henry crushed Colin Delaney last week. They still need to let Punk talk more and hopefully he isn't a 3 week champ and he gets to have a real title run. Maybe his second feud will lead to him being used better. Of course I could also see them having him drop the belt to Dave and going back to being misused despite him being one of the more popular guys on the show.

He did the same thing on SD and ECW. He's had chances to speak, but rarely if ever by himself, just doing a classic promo to enhance his character.

Yeah I am really fearful of them have Big Dave get the win at the Bash. They should let Punk keep the belt at least through Summerslam, he is one of the most talented guys on the roster and definitly one of the most over guys in the company. If they were just give Dave the belt they should have just let him get the win at NoC over Edge. I think Punk wins at the Bash, and then their will be some kinda gimmick match at Summerslam where either JBL or Cena wins the title.

Very true, Punk needs that one oppurtunity to truly cut loose on the mic and he would blow everyone away! I really think if they were to let him go heel, it would really benefit him, but then again it may backfire as he might lose some of the crowd by doing so.

I'm hoping he keeps the belt until Orton returns or that they have Jericho or HBK take it from him. I think all three of those opponents would lead to amazing matches for Punk and would really let him show off what he can do on the mic and in the ring.
