It's sad that they feel the need to out gritty Marvel.

It's also slightly bizarre. Dan Didio is so obsessed with silver age heroes that he's slowly bringing them all back but with none of the silver age settings.

This. It's making DC a bore. Even more when I realize about the only 90s character getting a good show is the Cyborg Superman and Bane over in Secret Six. WTF DC? They're getting better stories and character stuff then the heroes? You know your fucking up badly when the villains are doing better than the heroes.

Well save for Tim. Red Robin is the bomb. Pity I can't say the same for Batgirl. Damn has it gotten bad with this Calculator story.

Agreed with this statement.

I don't know how Superman wasn't crying through the last three events.

I don't even want happy go lucky.

I'd just like to see some cool stories.

In place of good writing, it feels like they just up the ante as far as the gore.

"Oh, I'm so shocked! Cool!"

There's no subtlety in DC at all, there writers aren't good enough to handle things in as good of a way as thier Marvel counterparts.

Well to be fair, it would've been Greg's favorite character.

If history is any guide, some day their writers will be at Marvel, and Marvel's writers will be at DC.

Well, except Didio.

Mark Millar is so unsubtle it almost becomes subtle again.

Well yeah, that's Millar though, at least he goes balls to the wall over the top, not trying to hide it. his comic is called "Kick Ass" for example.

Yeah, Millar really has been the shock-writer of late. It's the same thing.

He's the Michael Bay of comics.

And I mean this in a good way (sort of).

There isn't much substance, but he keeps it exciting at least.

I'm not a big fan, but I can see the appeal.

Cool.
I'd like to see that.

Aaron and Hickman are two of the creators in recent years who DC should have tried to sign IMO.

DC do have JMS now, so good things are set to come, probably. Hickman has just been awesome though. He's quickly catching up to JMS to become my favorite writer.

They do have Aaron doing Vertigo stuff at least.

I'm very pleased they've got Lemire doing DCU books.

JMS is very hit-or-miss for me, but I'll give his Superman and Wonder Woman a try.

His Brave & The Bold has been decent.
