I thought I was the only one in this board reading!

What you think of that bad-ass battle between Cap and Black Panther against the Nazi forces in front of Wakanda's gates?! :-D

First off, any time you put superheroes in WWII or at least in that era, I'm automatically going to probably be reading it (see my glowing approval of DCU Legacies).

As to your question, it was great. Whereas most "war" stories in superhero books right now are, at least to me, just one "cool" moment followed by another "cool" moment, it was nice to see some protracted bad-@$$ery.

Yep, I know just what you mean. The fight scenes have been very damn good and Denys Cowan's art on this is growing on me, but the battles have been top notch. Then you had those lovely Afro- rocking Doras shooting Nazi's back, etc, and Azari chucking those spears. Yeesh.

I just wish more people checked this out.

FLYNN! DID YOU GET YOUR COPY YET??! :-D

By the Bashenga's Spear of Sweet Christmas, this book is exciting! So much stuff happened yet the pacing throughout worked. On writing, Reggie is hitting this out of the park. His depiction of Azzari and Captain are just garnd to read, especially seeing their growing friendship. The villains are also insane and great challenges, making this a heavily and exhilarating action pack book from start to finish. Sexy afro Doras vs Warrior Woman, Captain vs White Gorilla, and that bad-ass scene of Azzari flying his plane into Mighty Man! Seriously?! 8)

Denys Cowan's art is looking great! I love Denys art as the next man, but I wasn't feeling it too much at the beginning of the series. But last issue got better and this time it really got good! That dynamic page of Captain America vs Gorilla with that beautiful finish! And next issue... Armless Tiger Man vs T'Chaka? Sign me up for next month!

I'm sadden there's only one more issue of this awesomeness, though. :(

Greg, I started reading this because you were raving about it, it is indeed really good. (I didn't check it out when it came out cause I have had a might bit of trouble keeping it on the shelf and to be honest Hudlin can be worrisome for me. Maybe he should only write minis, longer than ten issues or so and he can get boring as hell.)

I think it's plain and simple that Hudlin's writing improved a ton. I was never a fan of his writing but someone pushed me to check out his Black Panther reboot with Shuri becoming the Panther and I was highly entertained. I tried to tell people online but it seemed no one wants to believe whatsoever that a writer can improve. This mini has definitely been hitting some good beats and have shown Hudlin's improvements and his battles has been a ton of fun.

I really enjoyed the first arc of his first Black Panther run with JRJR, but it ran out of steam. I tried the shuri stuff but it didn't really get me either. Is he writing Doomwar? I like that.

He might be like others and artist can be important. I think some guys, and I would bet Cowan and JRJR are that kind, are more likely to consult the writer and say hey this doesn't work the way you want it.

If so, then good on him for taking their advise.

Doom War is currently written by Jonathan Maberry. I'm enjoying the series but last issue didn't do much for me besides the last scene with Deadpool. I also don't like the lack of T'Challa and Storm interacting or Storm doing much. After that crap she went through the first two issues, I'm gonna be heavily disappointed if she doesn't give some serious licks to Doom at the end.

Also, the scene with Bast and Doom really pissed me off and made me like the mini a lil' less. And I was hype as all hell about it for the first 2 issues.

Mayberry is who was writing Black Panther at the end, right? That might be why I was confused.
Yeah last issue was not great, but I am used to minis sucking in the middle these days.
