Spoilers abound, ye have been warned.
So, 3 issues in, and I think this is way too slow for me. I like 24. I like seeing nearly every literal minute in an exciting day. Thing is, while there are things that happen in each season that might remind you of other season, there's rarely a repeat of events within a season. So you get 24 episodes where each one is different from the other 23.
So far, in three issues, we've gotten....three issues that are 80% identicle. Booster is using Skeets sometimes faulty knowledge to make his superhero name, money, and try to nudge the past just enough to match his future. Steel is trying to keep his niece on the straight and narrow, pulling a living Uncle Ben, I suppose. No Renee/Question in this ish, as instead we get the explanation as to how Lex doesn't go straight to jail (I'm still not sure how he really pulled that one off...if that was Alex Luther's body, he wouldn't have been that close of a genetic match, right? He was the son of his Earth's Lex and Lois, not a Lex counterpart).
Pee Gee makes a cameo, and we see Black Adam ripping more people apart...which he's already done in 52.
So, after three issues, I'd say we've had exactly 2 significant events: Lex, and knowing Booster's time-line is messed up. And while we're getting small bits of other stories, that's a lot of fluff for the price of a paperback novel.
At the end of the year, 52 would by itself be about 21% of my yearly comic buying. It's going to run a total of $130. It's just not the kind of story I think I'm into, so #3 is going to be the last I plan to pick up. I would rather have seen a series of limiteds, one for each of the main storylines, so I can get the stories I'm interested in, and skip those I'm not.
