I hate hardcovers. I really hope they put this in 3-trade paperbacks after a while. I kinda want to read it.

Much as I usually love Alan Moore: no. I'm not in the slightest bit interested in this.

I don't love Moore, necessarily. I enjoy some of his work, don't care for others. And this one? No interest. :?

It sounds very interesting, and if it's done with Moore's usual skill I'll be happy to pick up the paperbacks. I don't have the cash to drop on expensive HCs without knowing I love them. Absolute Sandman is going to send me to debtors' prison already.

Dosn't float my boat really. Alan Moore is always a bit hit and miss for me.

Does anybody think a copy of Lost Girls is going to be hard to find when it comes out? I'd like to read it, but don't want to plop down money for shipping, but if someone goes apeshit about the legality of depicting minors have sex, and it's banned or tied up or whatever until then.

I dunno...16 years of work, and the name Alan Moore...I'm interested, despite the subject matter. What do you guys think?

Great Scott!!!

I think certain communities will try to block it, if they get word that it's coming. Certainly some countries would find it to violate their laws. We've got some pretty strong SCOTUS precedent finding that depictions of minors having sex that don't actually use minors as models isn't child porn. But there's also plenty of righteous minded folks that never let a litte thing like legal precedent get in the way of some moral crusade.

But more than that, I think it's hefty price tag is going to make it scarce. What LCS is going to drop the coin on a book that 1) might get them arrested, and 2) might just sit on the shelf for months? Your best bet is to pre-order it, or check with you LCS ahead of time. Or even better, your local Borders/Barnes and Noble. This is really the kind of book that would be better insulated at a book store. They sell the Kama Sutra, after all, and other books on sexuality. While those may not contain cartoon images of child porn, they are certainly plenty explicit.

Good points. My comic shop is going to stock it. Here in NC. I asked. It's the only one in town, too, and the closest one to here are 2 shops in Winston-Salem...some 30 minutes away.

The expense pretty much makes the decision for me, but, to be honest, I am not really interested. Moore has done some great work -- some of the greatest -- but that doesn't make everything he does is gold.

I like Moore's work, but the content doesn't interest me at all.
I could be wrong, might like it if I read it, but I'm not paying 75 bucks to find out.

Oh yeah, first post at the Outhouse ! :-D
