Astonishing and Uncanny X-Men Rosters?

Postby Agent of the Bat » Thu Jul 24, 2008 11:54 am

So after reading Uncanny X-Men #500 last night it seems to me that the rosters are all but the same. So is there no longer gonna be a different set of team members for each team? I have no problem with that at all, I would love to see Bru/Fraction and Ellis be able to use ever they want to use at any given time with no restraints.

One other thing that kinda bothers me though about Uncanny, was Angel was still just Angel, while he has been turned back into Archangel in X-Force, so whats the time line with these books?

There are some difference in the line-up, they both have a seperate Kitty Pryde-type, 'gateway' character, AXM has Armour and UXM has Pixie. Also, UXM seems to have Cannonball and Nightcrawler as characters. I think once UXM settles into a nice groove, they'll be a more solid cast, hopefully including Iceman :)

I like it best when there's two distinctive teams, personally.

I like different team but I also like when characters appear on the different teams. Like with Mike Carey's X-men Cyclops and Emma would pop up but they weren't the main characters.

That's the thing that was missing from Brubaker's pre-Messiah Complex X-men. It was like they weren't part of the X-men.

I like two different teams as well, and I agree with Rob, what is going on with Angel? That's the sort of thing that can drive me nuts.

Also, it would have been nice if Colossus or Storm, or even Emma had mentioned the fact that Kitty is now gone (on comic's largest phallic adventure I think I've ever witnessed).

From interviews, the impression I get is that Ellis' book will have a core team, while Uncanny will be a little looser and use the whole mutant cast as the story dictates.

It was mentioned briefly in an issue of Uncanny released before GSAXM came out and Matt Fraction said it'll be dealt with in Uncanny #504 last night

I'd send you a fruit basket or some bandages if I could afford them.
