The Outhouse Pirate Podcast #16

Postby LOLtron » Tue Sep 07, 2010 3:14 pm

Bernie is Back! Bendis Rumors! JLA Detroit! Thanos War and Where'd the X-men Go in Marvel Cosmic! Chaos War! and Machete!

Bernie the Wallstreet Pirate is back to critique the new look of the Outhouse with sdsichero, starlord, SuperginraiX, bkthomson, StephenDay, and ProzacMan. We then move on to some odd rumors of what Brian Michael Bendis will be up to. That leads to discus the under appreciated Justice League Detroit era. Some how that becomes a discussion of Chris Claremont's 2000's run on Uncanny X-Men, and we follow those story threads all the way up to the Thanos Imperative. Along the way we ask "what the hell happened to Havoc, Rachel Grey, and Polaris after War of Kings?". After discussing the galaxy it was then time to talk about the gods and the previews for Chaos War. That begs the question "didn't Marvel say they weren't going to do any more events?". Of course we then talk about how good all the crossovers are. Next up is Fantastic Four and why Reed is a bad dad. We do a few new comic book reviews too. Finally we talk about the new Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse movie Machete and call it a night. Can you believe that we had no idea what we were going talk about when we started the show?

ok guys
at least this week you talked about books you read, so that was a nice start
Super - the issue where the Greys all die was awesome and you are wrong
who ever said that more people should have read the cosmic books - how often do you step out of your comfort zone (indy books?)
Marvel made us change the DNA transcript?
oh, goodie, it ends with you reading the website outloud!

Super, your comments on YA:CC #2 made me think
[Reveal] Spoiler: Click to Expand
maybe not all of this is actually happening? Maybe Wiccan's reality warping power is making what he thinks is about to happen actually happen. That's why the costumes are classic, its what his mind thinks is reality. It explains why Wolvy is so scary, to a teenager, and why Doom has Wanda, what could be worse to a scared teenager?

Often as I can. Too bad there are a lot of non-indy books I like to read too.

Generally I am not that interested in pure crime type books or slice of life (drama) type. I tend to like fantasy in my readng or outrageous comedy. I'm a pretty boring person, so I don't need boring books. :P

I'm still a few months behind in my monthlies, any good sci-fi indy books you can think of?

Timebomb - especially for the price
Stuff of Legend - more fantasy then sci fi
Cowboy Viking Ninja - not sure what the genre would be

Yeah it was me, and I believe I said I was coming close to stopping buying the tie-in books. What you are saying is 100% valid and has taken me some time come to this conclusion. (You've seen my pull list I have a hard time not buying something.) Still i did not think I ranted like a mad man :) on the issue just pointing on I think with Shadowland how the forced tie-in with Moon Knight and Ghost Rider was.

As for the name three, from the Marvel side really none of them mattered in the tie-in limited series. At least none of them have been impactive enough to push the storyline along to enhance the over all enjoyment.

Thanks for the feedback, I really do not know how or what I sound like from other perspective so I'm always curious.
