I've got a mass birthday celebration of friends goig on tonight. We're all gonna clutch up at Bar #2. I just called and told them to save us a section of the deck, and to take the Guiness off ice.

I absolutedly know I'll be asked to make Pineapple Upside Downers by the pitcher (I use good vodka), and Red-Eyes (which I find foul beyond measure), and of course Irish Carbombs (I SWEAR they're better with room temp beers).

I may be sloshed tomorrow. You have been warned.

I once saw a white stand up comedian do a bit that went something like this:

"I got off stage once and I was hanging out with my white friends, we were throwing the word cracka around, when this black guy came up. He slapped me on the should and went to shake my hand saying, 'Man, you one funny ass cracka.' We all stopped laughing, and I turned to him, 'Hey man, that's our word. Our word.' The black guy stopped for a minute, stunned, and then replied, 'Nah, man, it's cool, I've got white friends. They let me say it all the time.' To which I replied, 'Alright man, I guess that's cool then.' "

After seeing that bit, cracka became our word. Much to Chapelle's chagrin.

Well, if it's going to be an issue, then I won't say it, but all you guys should realize I'm quoting Chapelle's Show (Samuel Jackson beer skit). Most of the time when I say it, it's in jest. I don't use it in any derogatory way, and you all know that, at least you should.

And to be honest, I take no offense in friends calling me "nigga" in jest. I'm not african-american, so a) no offense b) I find it funny. Me and my friends, no matter what colour, all say it in jest. If someone calls me a "nigger" to my face, in a spiteful way, then I take offence.

I wouldn't use it if I knew you would react badly to it. I wouldn't call Shawn or Brad "cracka" unless it was in jest, and I would assume you'd know that. If you wanna use the word "nigga" or "cracka" go ahead, I don't take offense.

I understand, and understood...just wondered why you were saying it, really...it takes a special effort to type a word like that.

They used it in post-slavery, too, and still use it. My grandparents could be heard using it as little as 20 years ago, when Eddie Murphy starting getting popular, so my mom says.

But setting up an understood rule that white people shouldn't use it...racist.
