Call for Questions: David Liss (Black Panther:Man Without..)

Postby BlueStreak » Wed Sep 15, 2010 10:53 am

David Liss, the just announced writer of Black Panther: Man Without Fear, has agreed to do an interview with the Outhouse. As always, I need your help to come up with questions. Don't ask questions like "What's going to happen" because obviously, he can't answer those.

So fire away!

- How did the idea of T'Challa taking over Daredevil come about? One thing many people seem to not know was that the two actually had a history of working together.

- Has he always been a Black Panther fan? Does he have any particular favorite runs or stories?

- We've seen a bunch of different sides of T'Challa from various writers, some more favorable than others. Is there a specific writer's version he's going to be basing from?

- How does he plan on incorporating his crime writing skills with a character like T'Challa?

- Will Storm play a big part in this coming run?

- Will T'Challa be adapting Daredevil's supporting cast along with his own? What about villains?

You've been handed a high profile book, how did this happen? Did you have to apply for it? Or was it something Marvel wanted to happen and they offered it you?

Are you worried about offending some fanboys, or do you just write what you want to write without thinking about what they want?

Someone from CBR asks...

Will Storm be featured prominently within this title? And if yes, in what capacity?

PM Jude so we can get this fixed. I'd do it but I'm on my phone.

Meanwhile, his question has been added to the annals.

Since you won't ask it the fun snarky way, how about this way.

Given how Wolverine becoming Dark Wolverine was received critically and with decreased sales and Wolverine Weapon X never really taking off despite a high profile creative team and good press, do you think taking one book which is struggling and changing its name to another character which has struggled to fill it's niche historically is a good idea?

Also, do you fear people seeing 512 as the perfect jumping off point for their collection given the title change... meaning that fans won't be reading your book or the Daredevil relaunch?

Incredible Hercules worked pretty well.

You understand that this is the interview with a writer, not the editorial side that determines the things you're asking, right?

I know you have a bee up your pants about the current state of comics, but there's no need to take it out on the writer.

That's like yelling at a teller about overdraft fees.
