Nothing in particular, but dini stopped writing Gotham City Sirens and DC didn't tell anyone till it was way too late for all other than in store buyers....So they fucked up the character and a book I was really enjoying,

Is that what happened? So he's not coming back? I think you owe me like 20 bucks for those issues since you got me into it! :x

No it isn't. Liking things that are hokey and corny is called "ironically awesome" and is the hallmark of the hipster. Not liking those things is called taste.

It's like you've read my review for this comic and I haven't even written it yet.

Everyone in this except Parasite had creepy super-smooth skin like those Japanese robots.

Jude Terror wrote:If you were to ask me what my biggest pet peeve with DC comics was, above all others, it would be characters like Superboy. There's nothing hokeyer than female, boy, and dog versions of popular characters. As soon as Hawkboywomandog or the like shows up in a DC comic, my brain immediately quits paying attention and I'm taken right out of the story. Legacy characters are bad. Boy sidekicks are worse. But dogboywoman clones of characters is just too fucking much. If there is one thing that will forever keep comics marginalized as a medium for manchildren, it's this shit. Ironic that Lemire is acclaimed for his serious business hipster literary comics and then he signs on to write this otherwise mediocre embarassment.

Story: 5
Art: 5
About Superboy: -4
Final: 1

says the Marvel X fanboy. :?

Jude's review says absolutely nothing about the book. It is about the concept, it is very possible from his review that he never even read the book.

That's how the Phantom Stranger rolls. It reminds me of a friend who, at parties, would stand directly behind girls he was crushing on so when they turned around they'd bump into him.

It was quite crafty.

Wow somebody's butthurt by my review.

I read it. The exposition was clunky (Phantom Plot Device IMO, plus who talks to themselves in their mind and tells themselves about their own powers and origin?) and the art looked unfinished. It was difficult to figure out what was going on with those flashbacks or whatever they were sometimes, but it wasn't bad by any means. It was average, and had potential especially with Ivy's arrival and the secret identity thing, but corniness like "Lori Luther" (another pet peeve - ridiculous alliterative names) and Superboymandogwoman just ruined it for me. The best part was the coming attractions page at the back, it almost makes me want to read future installments if I didn't hate the character and concept.

I'm Jude Terror. I post on an internet comic book message board. I live in New Jersey. Why am I telling myself this? I don't know. Now I'll say things in my head while saying something else out loud in conversation with someone, like a cutesy Whedon character.

Every MArvel book through the eighties had the heroes telling you what the hell they did in the last issue in their head so that you would know what was going on. Same deal here. It's a conceit, but one we have accepted for 50 plus years.

But people bitch endlessly about that when Claremont does it. Also, it's 2010.
