A colour blind person has no place arguing about colours!

I see that more from the DC books I've looked at lately than Marvel, but I generally don't see a lot of what either one is publishing right now. I think there's a schism between the pencils/inks and digital coloring. I think the artist is more likely than ever to go that coloring book route, leaving it to the colorist to add everything else, including the illusion of depth. But the pencils/art should be giving panels depth too, not merely line/perspective drawings like a lot of what you see in Superboy. Not enough collaboration between the artist/inker/colorist, in other words.

Also, some digital colorist just suck balls. This issue looks like 1997-era CGI in terms of the shading/gradations.

A few years ago, colours were too dark and too shadowy (see Frank D'Armata), and now they aren't shadowy enough!

Assembly line comics will always have that problem.

Totally random, but this morning I pondered the possibility of one day going blind and what it would mean for my comic collection. :-(

Now you're just trying to insert fake arguments into the discussion. Are you sure you graduated from Uni, they didn't just get sick of having you around?

I think Vicky hit it on the head, there aren't enough teams... I like Melissa Edwards' colors but they don't look good on everything (including Tommy's work). I think modern coloring on old school art like in some of the things Marvel has done in the last couple of years is dumb looking. However look at the coloring in Casanova, it is spot on.

It's not a fake argument, I remember numerous complaints about computer colours being too dark. It's just another case of fans complaining regardless of what happens.

I'm going to ignore the personal insult.

They don't have to, and not every one does. When it's done badly and digitally, that's when there's a noticeable problem like this book. IF the digital coloring had been done better though, it could've passed fine just like a lot of "assembly line" comics do each week.

Yeah, there really felt (to me) like there was a disconnect between the work done by Pier Gallo and the colors by Jamie Grant. Possibly an inker could've added some additional illusion of depth. Although I understand they probably wanted to go for a clean, bright style for this issue, there's too much homogeneity of tonal value--an old trick is to sort of half-squint your eyes while looking at a piece of artwork. This accentuates the light tonal values and the dark tonal values. You should be able to see the rudiments of composition more clearly as a result. Try this with Superboy, and outside of a couple rare panels, it's all about the same washed out mid-tones.
