How much has been paid for and how much did you get without spending a cent.

100% unless it was a gift of course.

But I don't have that big a collection. Not hugely into music.

I'd say I bought over half of what I have. A lot of what I have I snagged from buddies of mine who may or may not have gotten them illegally.

I don't do illegal downloads, but I can't say 100%, as some stuff was given to me...

Probably 40% of what I have I haven't paid for, I haven't listened to or gotten much enjoyment out of that 40% either so I don't worry too much about it. If file space ever becomes a concern I would just delete it anyway.

I download a lot of pirated music, but anything I listen to more than 5 times I make a point to go out and buy... although if more artists would just put PayPal links on their websites I would prefer to donate to them directly.

Well, not of music, anyway. TV shows are a different matter entirely...

)%. Usually I just listen to XM, stream from different places online, or if I really, really like an individual song I'll dl it. But I rarely download any music these days.

I dunno, I didn't steal from anyone. People (including me) upload their CDs for others to hear. Everyone retains a copy of the files...
It might be illegal because it hurts the artist financially (but one could argue that it actually helps the artist), but I don't know if it's stealing.

Besides, if I'm gonna go to hell for something as pathetic as that, I might as well go out with some wicked beats, yo.

most of mine, probably 60-99% I put.

A good portion of my music came from before we had all this digital music available. I have over a thousand CDs not counting music I bought from Apple. I did burn some stuff from my parents and brother's CD collections, but it is stuff I probably wouldn't have bought anyhow. I usually only go after music when you can't find it easily (I have a lot of alternate versions and covers of stuff) or if someone has an album with only one good song on it.

I rule. 5-29%. Although, in a few years, it should be more like 50%
